BoB Currency Rates

by Bob Tools LLP

Overview

Convert money and check exchange rates without leaving the chat. Ask "how much is 100 Thai baht in dollars?", "what is 250 EUR in Japanese yen?" or "convert 1,500 rubles to Georgian lari" and Claude pulls the live rate and does the maths. The connector covers 140 world currencies and major crypto tickers, all quoted against the US dollar, and returns the previous day's rate and the percentage change next to the current one, so you can see which way a currency is moving. Historical data is available as well — daily aggregates (open, close, min, max, average) kept indefinitely, with hourly points for recent periods — for questions like "what was the baht worth when I booked the trip?" or "show me the lira over the last six months". Read-only, and free without an account: no sign-up and no API key, within an hourly limit shared by everyone who is not signed in. If that shared limit is used up, you can sign in with a free BoB account to get your own hourly limit; BoB Pro and BoB Max plans raise it. The connector reads none of your data. Rates are informational and may differ from the rate your bank or exchange gives you.

Tools

get_available_currencies

Claude
Get the list of available currency tickers with their details (currency name, country or currency zone, current rate per 1 USD). Covers 140+ world currencies plus major crypto; the response starts with the exact current count.

get_current_rates

Claude
Get current exchange rates for specified currencies (units per 1 USD). If no tickers specified, returns all currencies. Each row carries the current rate, the previous session's closing rate and the percentage change between them; the response names the date that close belongs to.

get_data_availability

Claude
Check how far back historical data goes. Without a ticker it returns dataset-wide coverage (number of quoted currencies, daily and hourly date ranges); with a ticker it returns that currency's first/last date and number of days for both daily aggregated and hourly data.

get_historical_rates

Claude
Get historical exchange rate data for a currency. Supports two modes: 1. Hourly data: Recent detailed data points (time-series within days). May be limited by retention policy. 2. Daily aggregated: Min, max, avg, open, close rates per day. Stored forever. 'aggregated=true' suits long-term historical analysis, 'aggregated=false' suits recent intraday patterns.
