Overview

Bring your brand assets into your AI assistant. BrandLife MCP Server lets ChatGPT search, browse and organise your brands, collections and assets.

Tools

add_guideline_block

ChatGPT
Add a text, list or dos_donts block to a guideline section. Pictures cannot be added through this tool. The block is appended unless you pass position. A public block in a public section shows up straight away on every public share link of the brand that includes its identity, so people outside the workspace can see it. Returns the whole section.

clone_assets

ChatGPT
Copy assets, files and all. Each copy is named "Copy of <original>" and lands in the same collection as the asset it came from; move_assets can put it elsewhere afterwards. The files are duplicated, so the copies count against the customer storage quota: bytes_to_duplicate is how much this will add, tell the user before calling. Copying happens in the background, so this returns a job per asset; poll get_job_status for the new asset ids.

create_collection

ChatGPT
Create a new collection in a brand. Pass parent_id to nest it inside an existing collection, or leave it out to create it at the top level of the brand. The new collection accepts every file type and size; those restrictions are only editable in the BrandLife app.

create_color

ChatGPT
Add a color to a brand palette. Pass the value that matches color_type (hex for screen, cmyk for print, pantone for pantone); the other values are optional extras. The color is added at the end of the palette; use reorder_color to move it.

create_guideline

ChatGPT
Create a new, empty guideline section. Pass parent_id to nest it as a sub section, or leave it out to add it at the top level; either way it is placed last among its siblings. Fill it with add_guideline_block. A public section shows up straight away on every public share link of the brand that includes its identity, so people outside the workspace can see it.

delete_assets

ChatGPT
Move assets to the trash. Nothing is erased: trashed assets show up in list_trash and restore_asset puts one back. Name what you are about to delete before calling this.

delete_collection

ChatGPT
Move a collection to the trash. Everything inside it goes with it: every asset it holds, and every sub collection with their assets. Nothing is erased, and restore_collection puts it all back, but tell the user how many assets are affected before you call this.

generate_brand_image

ChatGPT
Generate a new image for a brand with AI. Nothing about the brand is sent unless you attach it: pass color_ids, font_ids, logo_ids and guideline_section_ids to put those in the prompt (logos are also attached as images; only public guideline blocks are sent), and reference_asset_ids to attach existing assets as visual references. The color, font, logo and guideline section ids come from list_brand_identity, or from list_colors, list_fonts, list_logos, list_guidelines and search_brand_resources, which return the same ids. Generation runs in the background: this returns a job_id, so poll get_job_status until status is "completed" - it then carries image_url (a temporary link to the result) and a compliance summary against what was attached. Save the result with save_generated_image_as_asset.

get_asset

ChatGPT
Get the details of a single asset, including its files and time limited download links. The preview image is displayed to the user automatically, so do not try to fetch or describe it. view_url opens the asset in BrandLife: offer it whenever the user may want to see the asset in the app itself, and give it as a plain link. Opening an asset is recorded in the brand activity log.

get_brand_profile

ChatGPT
Read the identity text of a brand: tagline (plain text), mission, vision and description (HTML), core values (plain text titles with HTML descriptions) and social links. identity_score (0 to 100) says how complete the brand identity is in BrandLife.

get_collection

ChatGPT
Get the settings of a single collection: its description, how many assets and sub collections it holds, and which file extensions and asset types it accepts. To see the assets themselves call list_collection_assets.

get_font

ChatGPT
Get a single font with its usage guidelines and the font files stored in BrandLife. A preview of every file is shown to the user automatically, so do not try to fetch or describe the images. view_url opens the font in BrandLife: offer it when the user may want to see it in the app, as a plain link. To download the files call get_font_download_links.

get_guideline

ChatGPT
Read one guideline section with its blocks in order. Each block has a type (text, list, dos_donts, gallery or image), its raw content and a plain text rendering in text. Text blocks and list items are HTML; dos and don'ts are plain text; gallery and image blocks hold pictures and can only be edited in the BrandLife app.

get_job_status

ChatGPT
Check whether a background job has finished. Work that cannot complete inside one tool call, such as clone_assets or generate_brand_image, returns a job id instead of a result; poll this until status is "completed" or "failed". For a finished asset clone, cloned_asset_id is the new asset, which you can then rename or move. For a finished image generation, image_url is a temporary link to the result, compliance summarises how well it follows the brand guidelines, and saved_asset_id is set once it has been saved with save_generated_image_as_asset.

list_brand_identity

ChatGPT
List the colors, fonts, logos and public guideline sections a brand defines, with their ids. Call it before generate_brand_image: the color_ids, font_ids, logo_ids and guideline_section_ids it takes come from here, never from names. Only colors with a hex value can be attached. list_colors, list_fonts, list_logos and list_guidelines return the same ids with more detail.

list_brand_vocabulary

ChatGPT
List everything a brand classifies its assets by: asset types, channels, labels, tags and statuses. Call it before filtering a search, because search_assets takes ids from here and never names. Labels and tags come back flat, with parent_label_id and parent_id pointing at their parent. Call it once per brand and reuse the result.

list_brands

ChatGPT
List the BrandLife brands this user can access. Every other tool needs a brand_id from this list.

list_collection_assets

ChatGPT
List the assets sitting directly in one collection, most recently updated first. Assets in its sub collections are not included: to see those, call this again for each child collection from list_collections. The assets are shown to the user as a thumbnail grid automatically, so do not try to fetch or describe their images.

list_collections

ChatGPT
List every collection in a brand as a flat list, each with its parent_id so you can rebuild the tree yourself. Only collections this user may see are returned. Call it once per brand and reuse the result: collection ids from here are what list_collection_assets and the collection_ids filter of search_assets take.

list_colors

ChatGPT
List every color in a brand palette in display order, with its values, categories, usage guidelines and tags. color_type says which value is the main one: hex for screen, cmyk for print, pantone for pantone. Only colors with a hex value can be attached to generate_brand_image. The palette is shown to the user as color swatches automatically.

list_fonts

ChatGPT
List every font in a brand in display order, with its usage (Primary, Secondary or WebSafeDefault) and, when set, external_download_url: the vendor page the font can be obtained from. Call get_font for its usage guidelines and files. The fonts are shown to the user as a thumbnail grid automatically, so do not try to fetch or describe their images.

list_guidelines

ChatGPT
List every section of a brand guidelines document as a flat list, each with its parent_section_id so you can rebuild the tree, in display order among its siblings. Private sections are hidden from public share links and cannot be attached to generate_brand_image. Call get_guideline to read a section. Brand guidelines are an add-on; when it is off every guideline tool fails with a message saying so.

list_logos

ChatGPT
List every logo in a brand in display order. usage says whether it is the primary or a secondary logo, type whether it is for light (positive) or dark (negative) backgrounds, and format whether it is meant for digital or print. Call get_logo to see its files. The logos are shown to the user as a thumbnail grid automatically, so do not try to fetch or describe their images.

list_recent_assets

ChatGPT
List the assets most recently opened or most recently added in a brand. Use it for questions like "what did I look at last week" or "what is new in this brand". Downloads are not tracked, so there is no download activity to ask for. The assets are shown to the user as a thumbnail grid automatically, so do not try to fetch or describe their images.

list_trash

ChatGPT
List what has been deleted in a brand: the deleted assets, and the deleted collections alongside them. Only items this user may see are returned. The assets are shown to the user as a thumbnail grid automatically, so do not try to fetch or describe their images.

move_assets

ChatGPT
Move assets into a collection. An asset lives in exactly one collection, so this takes them out of wherever they are now: it does not add them to a second place. To copy instead, use clone_assets.

move_collection

ChatGPT
Move a collection under a different parent collection, or to the top level of the brand. Everything inside it, sub collections and assets alike, moves with it. The collection is placed last among its new siblings.

move_guideline

ChatGPT
Move a guideline section under another section, to the top level, or to a different position among its siblings. Its sub sections move with it. A section cannot be moved inside itself or one of its own sub sections.

move_guideline_block

ChatGPT
Move a block to a new position within its guideline section. Returns the whole section.

rename_asset

ChatGPT
Rename a single asset. Nothing else about it changes: its files, tags, labels, status and collection are left alone.

rename_collection

ChatGPT
Rename a collection, and optionally replace its description. Only the fields you pass are changed. To move a collection somewhere else use move_collection instead.

reorder_color

ChatGPT
Move a color to a new position in the brand palette. The other colors shift to make room. Returns the whole palette in its new order.

restore_asset

ChatGPT
Restore one asset from the trash. If the collection it used to live in is gone, it comes back in the brand default collection.

restore_collection

ChatGPT
Restore a collection from the trash, along with the assets and sub collections that were trashed with it. Collection ids in the trash come from list_trash.

save_generated_image_as_asset

ChatGPT
Save the result of a completed generate_brand_image job as a new asset in a collection. Pick the collection with list_collections. The asset is marked as AI generated and its thumbnail appears shortly after.

search_assets

ChatGPT
Search the assets of a brand. query is free text matched against asset names, tags and descriptions; the optional filters narrow the result to given asset types, channels, tags, labels, collections, statuses, file extensions or starred assets only, and combine with each other. Every filter takes ids from list_brand_vocabulary or list_collections, never names. Results are the most recently updated matches first. similar_assets are what the AI search found close to the query without matching it outright, and are worth pointing out when the exact matches are few or empty. Both are shown to the user as a thumbnail grid automatically, so do not try to fetch or describe their images.

search_brand_resources

ChatGPT
Search the logos, colors, fonts and guideline sections of a brand at once, by name, description, color value (such as a hex code), tag, file name or guideline text. Guideline matches carry match_snippet, the text around the match. Guideline sections are left out when the brand guidelines add-on is off. To search assets use search_assets.

set_brand_core_values

ChatGPT
Replace the whole list of core values of a brand, in the order given. Values whose id you leave out are deleted, so call get_brand_profile first and pass every value you want to keep, with its id. New values have no id.

update_brand_profile

ChatGPT
Change the identity text of a brand. Only the fields you pass are changed; pass an empty string to clear one. The brand name is not editable here. To change core values use set_brand_core_values.

update_color

ChatGPT
Change a color. Only the fields you pass are changed. categories and tags replace the whole list, so pass every entry you want to keep. To change its position in the palette use reorder_color.

update_guideline

ChatGPT
Rename a guideline section or change its visibility. Only the fields you pass are changed; the old name is overwritten. Making a section public shows it straight away on every public share link of the brand that includes its identity; making it private takes it off them. To move it use move_guideline; to change its content use the block tools.

update_guideline_block

ChatGPT
Change a block of a guideline section. title and visibility work on every block type. content replaces the whole text of a text, list or dos_donts block and must keep its type; the old text is overwritten and cannot be restored, so call get_guideline first and carry over anything to keep. content is refused for gallery and image blocks, and for list and dos_donts blocks that have pictures attached, which can only be edited in the BrandLife app. Changes to a public block in a public section show up straight away on every public share link of the brand that includes its identity. Returns the whole section.
