Buildory

by HENDRIK SALOMONS

Overview

Buildory helps makers review progress, search structured project knowledge, prepare focused execution handoffs, maintain tasks and project structure, and manage linked resources and versioned artifacts. Read access is scoped to explicitly enabled projects; Pro and Creator users can separately authorize controlled updates. Permanent deletion, project publication and membership changes are unavailable.

Tools

buildory_archive_items

ChatGPT
Use this when the user explicitly asks to reversibly archive a bounded list of exact existing project items. It never accepts a search expression, never archives a project and never permanently deletes anything. List exact records first when the user's request is broad.

buildory_create_bom_item

ChatGPT
Add a candidate part or material to an existing Buildory project's bill of materials. Use only after the user asks to record it. Requires Pro or Creator and MCP write access.

buildory_create_build_log

ChatGPT
Record work that actually happened in an existing Buildory project section. Do not use it for plans or future tasks.

buildory_create_knowledge

ChatGPT
Save a durable note, decision, research result, specification or reference in an existing Buildory project section. Use only when the user asks to record this knowledge.

buildory_create_resource

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants to save an external project reference such as a private ChatGPT chat, website, GitHub repository or document link. Omit sections to make it project-wide; otherwise every supplied section must be an active section in this project.

buildory_create_section

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants a new root section or child section in an existing project. Buildory enforces the workspace's section count and depth limits.

buildory_create_task

ChatGPT
Create an open task in an existing Buildory section. Use only after the user explicitly asks to record the task. Requires Pro or Creator and MCP write access.

buildory_finalize_artifact_upload

ChatGPT
Use this only after buildory_prepare_artifact_upload and a successful direct PUT to verify the uploaded file and atomically create the prepared artifact revision. Safe to retry with the same upload ID and secret token; a successful retry returns the same revision.

buildory_get_artifact

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants metadata, links, revision history or a short-lived authenticated download URL for one exact active artifact in an accessible project. Downloads use attachment disposition by default.

buildory_get_execution_brief

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants a focused, read-only execution brief for Codex or another technical agent from exactly one accessible Buildory task or section. Choose one of the two fully described input variants. It returns bounded relevant context, linked artifacts with current file metadata and Markdown; it does not execute work or change the project.

buildory_get_project_activity

ChatGPT
Use this when the user asks what changed in one accessible Buildory project, when it changed, or who or what caused it. It returns the recent authoritative activity trail with human, MCP client, Codex return, API, automation or system provenance.

buildory_get_project_item

ChatGPT
Use this after a list, search, or activity result to retrieve one exact typed record. Archived records require include_archived=true.

buildory_get_section

ChatGPT
Get the structured details, child sections, tasks, parts, recent build log, knowledge, photo captions and linked resources of one accessible Buildory section.

buildory_list_artifacts

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants to find or list active uploaded project files and their current revision metadata. Supply query to search artifact titles, descriptions, tags and current filenames without changing the immutable published buildory_search_project contract. List results deliberately return empty revisions and links arrays and no download URL; call buildory_get_artifact for full revision history, links and a temporary download URL. Optionally limit results to artifacts whose primary section is one active project section. File contents are not returned.

buildory_list_project_items

ChatGPT
Use this to retrieve a bounded typed inventory before inspecting, updating, archiving, or restoring exact project records. Archived records are returned only when explicitly requested.

buildory_list_projects

ChatGPT
List the Buildory projects accessible to the connected user. Use this first when the user has not identified one project unambiguously.

buildory_manage_task

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants to update richer execution details, set blocked status, or move an existing active task within its project. This extends rather than changes the published buildory_update_task contract.

buildory_prepare_artifact_upload

ChatGPT
Use this when the user explicitly wants to upload a new artifact or append a revision to an existing artifact. PUT the raw file to the returned short-lived one-time URL using every returned header, then call buildory_finalize_artifact_upload. Never send base64 file content to this tool.

buildory_project_summary

ChatGPT
Get a concise summary, totals, tasks needing attention and recent build activity for one accessible Buildory project.

buildory_restore_items

ChatGPT
Use this when the user asks to restore a bounded list of exact archived project items. Selecting an archived root section also restores descendants and content archived through that exact section operation. Restore a different archived parent section first when selecting its content directly; Buildory does not restore parents implicitly. This never restores an archived project or re-enables project MCP access.

buildory_search_project

ChatGPT
Search titles and text across sections, project and section tasks, BOM items, build logs, knowledge, photo captions and linked resources in one accessible project.

buildory_update_artifact

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants to update metadata, the primary section or related project records for an active artifact. This never replaces file bytes; append a revision through prepare/finalize.

buildory_update_bom_item

ChatGPT
Update or move an existing BOM item inside the same accessible Buildory project. Include only fields the user intends to change.

buildory_update_build_log

ChatGPT
Use this only to correct an existing active historical build-log record. An explicit correction reason is always required and Buildory saves the previous values as a bounded revision. This tool never moves a build log to another section.

buildory_update_knowledge

ChatGPT
Use this to correct an existing active knowledge record or move it to another active section. Buildory first saves a bounded revision containing the previous values and supplied correction reason. Creating a newer conclusion should use buildory_create_knowledge with supersedes_knowledge_id instead.

buildory_update_project

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants to correct an existing project's title, description, category, or active lifecycle status. It never changes visibility, currency, billing, MCP settings, or archive state.

buildory_update_resource

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants to correct an active external resource or manage its project-local section links. Converting a project-wide resource to section-scoped requires project_wide=false plus add_sections. Converting to project-wide removes every section placement.

buildory_update_section

ChatGPT
Use this to correct section metadata, move a section to a different active parent or root, or place it immediately before or after an active sibling. Cycles and plan-limit violations are rejected.

buildory_update_task

ChatGPT
Update editable fields of an existing task in an accessible Buildory project. The external status done maps to Buildory completed. Use only after an explicit user request.
