Overview

Calendera answers questions about public and school holidays across Europe — 38 countries and their regions, in the languages each country publishes them in. Ask which days are public holidays in Bavaria next year, when the school holidays fall in Vaud, or where in Europe 3 October is a day off, and Claude answers from the dates the regions actually keep: school terms, days moved off a weekend and each region's own holidays included; town festivals that are nobody's day off left out. Where a country's regions keep different holidays — Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and others — the answer says so and names the regions, rather than passing a national list off as anyone's year. Ask to see a year and it opens as a calendar in the conversation: public holidays, school holidays and bridge days marked, in the region's own language. Its leave planner shows how far a few days off go — click the days you would take, see how many days in a row they add up to, and share the plan into the conversation. The dates come from the OpenHolidays API (Open Database Licence), gov.uk (Open Government Licence) and the statutes of Cyprus, Denmark, Greece and Türkiye, republished by calendera.org and refreshed every morning. No account and no sign-in; every tool only reads.

Tools

find_place

Claude
Finds countries and regions by name, in any language, or lists every country when called without a query. A country that divides into regions with holidays of their own comes with its regions. Returns the ids the other tools take.

get_holidays

Claude
Public holidays, bank holidays and school holidays for one European country or region over a year or a range of dates, for questions such as which days are holidays in Bavaria in 2027, when the school holidays are in Vaud, or which days off make the longest break. For a region, or a country that keeps one calendar: every holiday in the range, and per year a summary line, the bridge days and the longest time off one, two and three days of leave can buy, each with a link that opens that plan on calendera.org. For a divided country: its regions, and the public holidays split into those kept everywhere and those kept only in some regions, without school holidays; a region's full calendar comes from calling again with that region. For planning time off with the user, show_calendar opens the same year as an interactive planner.

holidays_on

Claude
Which countries and regions of Europe keep a public holiday on a date, or on each date of a span of up to 31 days. A holiday kept in only some regions names them. Without a date, answers for today in UTC, which around midnight can be a different day from the user's.

render_view

Claude
The calendar window's own navigation, for the window only: the page of calendera.org at a path, as the window shows it.

show_calendar

Claude
Opens an interactive year calendar for a European country or region in the conversation, with a leave planner — for requests to plan vacation days or time off, find long weekends and bridge days, or see a year's public and school holidays at a glance. Twelve months with public holidays, school holidays and bridge days marked; the user picks the days they would take off and sees how many days in a row they add up to. The plan reaches the conversation when the user presses the planner's share button, which puts it into the message box for them to send; until then it stays in the window. For a divided country it opens a map to choose a region on. Also returns the year's holidays as text, as get_holidays does.
