Overview

ConvertPDF brings a PDF toolkit into ChatGPT. Attach a file and ask in plain words: compress a PDF so it fits an email limit, merge several PDFs in the order you want, split a document into parts, turn a PDF or a scan into an editable Word document or an Excel spreadsheet, convert Word, Excel, PowerPoint, JPG, PNG or iPhone HEIC photos to PDF, render pages as images, crop or resize pages, and add page numbers or a watermark. ConvertPDF runs the work on its own servers in the European Union and returns a download link for the result, with the real before-and-after size for compression. Documents are never sent to third-party AI or conversion services and are deleted automatically within one hour. It works only on the files you attach and never asks for passwords, signatures, payment details or other personal information. Sign in once with Google or an email code; the free plan includes a daily allowance.

Give the tool slug, the files in the order they should be used, and the tool's options. Downloads the files, runs the tool and returns download links to show the user. Use start_job instead when you can upload files yourself.

delete_job

Delete a job and all of its files now instead of waiting for the automatic one-hour deletion.

finish_job

ChatGPT

Call after uploading every file for a job. Seals the uploads, runs the conversion and waits up to about 25 seconds for it. Returns the final status with download URLs, or the current status if it is still running (then call job_status).

job_status

ChatGPT

Current state of a job. Once it succeeded, includes fresh short-lived download URLs for every output. Failed jobs carry an error_code.

start_job

ChatGPT

Start a conversion: give the tool slug, each file's MIME type and exact size in bytes (in the order they should be used), and the tool's options. Returns a job_id and one signed upload URL per file. Upload each file's raw bytes with HTTP PUT to its url using exactly the given headers (for example: curl -X PUT -H "Content-Type: application/pdf" --data-binary @file.pdf "<url>"), then call finish_job. Never put document contents in tool arguments.
