Overview

Cotokim helps expecting parents in Brazil, the United States and Mexico plan the baby's layette. Tell it the city and the month and year the baby is due, and it builds a checklist sized to the local climate in the first months: how many bodysuits, sleepers, socks and other items to have in each size, split into what to have before the birth, up to six months, and later. The list opens as an interactive checklist in the chat, in English, Spanish or Portuguese. It also answers practical questions with small calculators: - how many diapers to have before the birth, by size, for one baby or twins; - how to dress the baby for a given room temperature, in °F or °C, with safe-sleep cautions from public health sources; - clothing sizes by age, weight and length (Carter's labels in the US, local sizes in Mexico and Brazil); - a hospital bag checklist for each country; - in Brazil, how to split diaper sizes among baby shower guests. What it uses: only the city and the month and year the baby is due, never the exact date or any name, plus what each calculator asks (room temperature, number of guests, the baby's age, weight or length). Nothing is stored; only daily usage counts per tool are kept. Coverage: 100 cities in the United States, 48 in Mexico and every municipality in Brazil. Quantities are planning estimates, not medical advice; for the baby's health, talk to a pediatrician. A printable version of the list opens on cotokim.com.

baby_shower_diaper_split

ChatGPT
Brazil only. Splits the diaper packs of a Brazilian baby shower (chá de fraldas, one pack per guest) among the sizes RN, P, M and G, by the expected use of each size, and gives the order in which to assign a size to each guest so no size ends up all at the end. Guest names are not needed. Answers in Brazilian Portuguese. For the United States and Mexico, use diaper_calculator instead.

build_layette_list

ChatGPT
Builds a baby layette checklist (enxoval: the clothes and essentials for the first months) for a city in Brazil, the United States or Mexico, from the city's typical climate in each month of the baby's first months. In Brazil and the United States, pass the month (and year) the baby is due. The quantities depend on the exact due date, so the list is computed for every day of that month: each item and size comes with the minimum, the maximum and the most common quantity, grouped by phase (ready for the birth, up to 6 months, later). In Mexico, only the city is used: never send month or year for Mexico. There the answer is a table for a baby born on the 15th of each of the 12 months, with the clothes that change most with the weather up to 6 months, plus the city's climate by month: pick the person's month from the table yourself. For the full list of that month, use printable_list_link (the person picks the month on the page). Never the exact date or a name. Baby items only; no brands, stores or costs. Pass country ("BR", "US" or "MX") when you know it, and language "es" for Spanish speakers in the United States. Answers in the language of the country (Brazilian Portuguese; US English or US Spanish; Mexican Spanish), with its sizes and units (°F, lb and in in the United States).

clothes_by_temperature

ChatGPT
How to dress a baby for the temperature of the room where the baby is (0 to 45 °C, or 32 to 113 °F): layers for the day and for sleep, with the health sources behind them, plus the checks and the things not to do. Says when a band is a Cotokim proposal because no health source gives a table for it (in the United States and Mexico, the whole table is a Cotokim proposal, with the sleep sack TOG from one maker's chart). A guide, not medical advice. Not for fever or a sick baby. Pass country ("BR", "US" or "MX") when you know it, and language "es" for Spanish speakers in the United States. Answers in the language of the country (Brazilian Portuguese; US English or US Spanish; Mexican Spanish), with its sizes and units (°F, lb and in in the United States).

diaper_calculator

ChatGPT
How many disposable diapers a baby uses in each size of the country (Brazil: RN, P, M; United States: N, 1, 2; Mexico: RN-1, 2, 3) up to 6 months, and how many to have at home before the birth, with packs where the brands publish them, from WHO growth curves and the number of changes per day by age. Works for twins and triplets in Brazil and the United States. In Mexico the answer is for one baby, with a note that twins double the amounts: never send babies for Mexico. Style: essential (2 weeks of stock of each size), balanced (expected use) or complete (expected use plus 10%). Quantities only; no brands, stores or costs. Pass country ("BR", "US" or "MX") when you know it, and language "es" for Spanish speakers in the United States. Answers in the language of the country (Brazilian Portuguese; US English or US Spanish; Mexican Spanish), with its sizes and units (°F, lb and in in the United States).

hospital_bag_checklist

ChatGPT
Hospital bag checklist for giving birth in Brazil, the United States or Mexico: in Brazil, for the mother, the baby and the companion, in the public health system (SUS) or private hospital version, each item with how many official maternity lists include it and whether a law requires it; in the United States, the baby's bag and the rear-facing car seat for the ride home; in Mexico, what IMSS asks the mother to bring (public) or the private hospital version, plus the baby's bag. For mild, cold or hot weather. Pass country ("BR", "US" or "MX") when you know it, and language "es" for Spanish speakers in the United States. Answers in the language of the country (Brazilian Portuguese; US English or US Spanish; Mexican Spanish), with its sizes and units (°F, lb and in in the United States).

search_city_climate

ChatGPT
Typical climate of a city in Brazil, the United States or Mexico: average, minimum and maximum temperature of a month (or of all 12 months when no month is given), with the data source and the band the layette list uses (cold below 18 °C or 64.4 °F, mild, hot from 24 °C or 75.2 °F). In Mexico, always all 12 months: never send month for Mexico. Long-term averages for planning, not a weather forecast. Pass country ("BR", "US" or "MX") when you know it, and language "es" for Spanish speakers in the United States. Answers in the language of the country (Brazilian Portuguese; US English or US Spanish; Mexican Spanish), with its sizes and units (°F, lb and in in the United States).

size_converter

ChatGPT
Baby clothing sizes by age (WHO growth curves) or by weight and length, on the country's chart: Brazil (RN, P, M, G, GG, 1, 2, with the conversion between a Carter's label and the Brazilian size); the United States and Mexico (the official Carter's chart: NB or RN, 3M, 6M, 9M, 12M, 18M, 24M). Give any of the inputs. Pass country ("BR", "US" or "MX") when you know it, and language "es" for Spanish speakers in the United States. Answers in the language of the country (Brazilian Portuguese; US English or US Spanish; Mexican Spanish), with its sizes and units (°F, lb and in in the United States).
