ask_covenant
ChatGPTAsks Covenant's own assistant a question about the investments you can see and returns its answer with the ids of the investments it relied on. Use this for reasoning a lookup cannot do: benchmarking a term against the portfolio, a question that mixes several terms with conditions, or one you cannot map to a surveyed term. It is also the only tool that reads a fund's documents, so use it for a clause's exact wording, a definition, a cross-reference or a term Covenant does not survey; it quotes the document's exact words. The lookups are faster and free: get_answers and get_topic_summaries for one fund, list_questions then get_answers_for_question for one term across every fund ("which of my funds set the GP removal threshold below 75%?" is a get_answers_for_question call). Pass investment_id (from list_investments) to ask about one fund.
get_amendments
ChatGPTReturns the released amendments, waivers, extensions and consents of the investments you can see, oldest first, and the terms each one changed: the update's label, effective date, request type and summary, then each changed term with its value before and after, the source section and a quote. Pass investment_id to read one fund, or omit it for every fund. Pass question_names (exact, from list_questions) to follow particular terms. Consents that changed no terms are listed too. Use it for what amendments a fund has had and how a term changed over time; a term's current value, amendments folded in, comes from get_answers or get_answers_for_question. The terms of an amendment request itself (for example the fee rate agreed for an extension) are not surveyed terms and are not here; ask_covenant can read them.
get_answers
ChatGPTReturns Covenant's surveyed answers for one investment. Pass the investment id from list_investments. With no filter it returns an index: every topic with its answer count, and each answer cut to a short preview with no source. Pass topic (part of a topic name, such as "fee" or "governance"; topic names differ per organization and the index lists them) or question_contains (part of a term name) to get the matching answers in full: answer text, structured value, source citation, the document it came from and whether that document is DRAFT or FINAL. Prefer this over ask_covenant when the question names one fund.
get_answers_for_question
ChatGPTReturns the answers to one to 5 surveyed terms across every investment you can see, or across the investment_ids you pass: for each term, statistics over the whole cohort (count, min, max, average, median and percentiles for numbers; distinct values with counts for yes/no and choice terms) and one short line per fund with its value and unit. Use it for any question across funds: which funds, how many, the average, a side-by-side comparison. Term names must be exact; get them from list_questions. Values in different units are not comparable; the result says when a term is answered in more than one unit. For one fund's full answers with citations use get_answers instead.
get_topic_summaries
ChatGPTReturns the short, cited topic summaries Covenant has already written for one investment, one per topic area, under the topic names the organization's survey uses (the same names get_answers lists). Cheaper and shorter than get_answers; use it for "summarize" or "overview" questions about a fund. Pass the investment id from list_investments.
list_investments
ChatGPTLists the investments (funds) you can see in Covenant: id, name, manager, investment type, asset class, vintage and negotiation status. Start here for any question about a specific fund, then pass its id to get_answers or get_topic_summaries. Use name_contains to narrow a long list.
list_questions
ChatGPTLists the terms (questions) Covenant has surveyed across the investments you can see, grouped by topic, with each term's answer type and the document types it is tracked under. Call it to learn the exact term names before get_answers_for_question, or to check whether a term is tracked at all. Pass keyword to search by words in the term name, or topic to narrow to one topic. Term and topic names differ per organization.
whoami
ChatGPTReturns the identity Covenant resolved from your access token: the user, the organization the token was issued for, the role and data scope Covenant granted, and the client that holds the token. Use it to confirm the connection works.
