Drill

by Jordan Martinelli

Overview

Drill connects ChatGPT to a knowledge-verification protocol for students. Create Cards with Truths and plausible Traps, organize Decks and Tags, inspect what is Untested, Weak, Unproven, or Mastered, and turn course material into study content that can be tested before exam day.

Tools

drill_create_cards

ChatGPT
Create cards with statements (truths and traps). Each card needs min 2 statements: 1 truth + 1 trap. Cards are created as active and immediately available for study. DEFAULT: produce mirror traps — copy a truth, then pivot exactly ONE factual detail that tests concept understanding. BAD: unrelated false statements or same sentence with a typo/syntax trick. Each statement must be a full sentence evaluable as true or false — never a question or short answer. Up to 50 cards per call.

drill_create_deck

ChatGPT
Create a new deck in the workspace.

drill_create_tag

ChatGPT
Create one or more tags in the workspace. Tags can be attached to cards to categorize them. Up to 20 per call.

drill_delete_cards

ChatGPT
Batch soft-delete cards. Cards are not permanently removed but marked as deleted. Up to 50 cards per call.

drill_delete_tag

ChatGPT
Permanently delete a tag. Cards keep their other tags.

drill_get

ChatGPT
Get full details of a deck or card by ID. Auto-detects the type. Returns the complete object with nested cards, statements, and tags.

drill_get_stats

ChatGPT
Get mastery statistics for the current user. Optionally filter by deck. Returns mastery breakdown, cards due, and average accuracy.

drill_list_decks

ChatGPT
List all decks in the workspace. Returns deck metadata with card counts. Supports pagination and optional archived deck inclusion.

drill_list_tags

ChatGPT
List all tags in the workspace. Tags can be associated with cards and optionally belong to a topic. Supports pagination.

drill_manage_cards

ChatGPT
Batch update cards: change status (draft/active/retired), modify notes, add/update/remove statements, add/remove tags. When adding or updating traps: DEFAULT: produce mirror traps — copy a truth, then pivot exactly ONE factual detail that tests concept understanding. BAD: unrelated false statements or same sentence with a typo/syntax trick. The first statement (position 0) cannot be deleted — use update_statements to change its text. Operates on 1-50 cards in a single transaction.

drill_move_cards

ChatGPT
Move cards to a deck or back to inbox. Up to 50 cards per call. Set deck_id to null to move to inbox.

drill_update_deck

ChatGPT
Update a deck's name, icon, color, or due date.

drill_update_tag

ChatGPT
Rename a tag.
