Overview

eSIMDB is a discovery and comparison service for travel eSIMs: prepaid data plans you install before a trip to get online abroad without roaming fees. Tell ChatGPT where you are travelling, for how long and how much data you need, and eSIMDB returns a shortlist of travel eSIMs from more than 100 providers, with price, data allowance, validity, network type and active promo codes, shown as an interactive list. It covers single countries, regions such as Europe or Asia, multi-country trips and global plans, and can narrow results to unlimited data, plans with calls and texts, or low-latency plans. Each result links to its page on esimdb.com for details and reviews. eSIMDB only covers prepaid eSIMs for travellers. It does not cover home mobile contracts, device setup or unlocking, or managing an eSIM you already own. Plans are bought on the provider's website, not in ChatGPT.

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants a prepaid travel eSIM or mobile data plan for a trip abroad: any question about eSIM, roaming, data SIM, staying connected, or internet while travelling in a country, region, or multiple countries. Searches the eSIMDB catalogue of 240+ providers and returns a curated shortlist with price, data, validity, 5G, and promo codes; the result renders as an interactive plan list. Do not use for: SIM unlocking, device setup or troubleshooting, home/domestic carrier contracts, cancelling or managing an existing eSIM, flights, hotels, or anything that is not a travel data plan search. This holds even when the user invoked eSIMDB by name: do not search, say that eSIMDB only finds travel eSIM plans, and answer the request yourself. Never derive a destination from an unrelated request (a flight or hotel search for Tokyo is not a request for Japan eSIM plans), and never fall back to a global search when the user named no destination: ask where they are travelling instead. Destination: pass ONE input. Prefer country_code (ISO-2) for a single country, region (enum slug) for a named region, country_codes for multi-country trips or regions outside the enum; destination is a free-text fallback only. Filters: pass duration_days / data_gb (each a { min?, max? } range), unlimited, has_telephony, or low_latency (local-breakout plans, best for gaming/video calls) only when the user explicitly constrains the search. With no constraints the tool returns a diverse mix covering short / medium / long / unlimited / low-latency / voice picks (see structuredContent.bucketHighlights). Examples: data_gb: { min: 5 } for 5 GB or more, duration_days: { min: 7, max: 14 } for a 7 to 14 day trip. All filters are SOFT: matching plans come first, then close alternatives are backfilled. structuredContent.matchedCount is how many leading plans match every filter; you MUST tell the user when alternatives are included. Mention promo codes: every plan you mention in your text answer MUST include Promo code: CODE (discount label) when the plan has a promo, e.g. Promo code: ESIMDB15 (15% off) or Promo code: ESIMDB ($1 off), or 15% off applied automatically when there is no code. The narration and structured fields (promo, formatted.promoDiscountLabel) already contain these; do not omit them. Display options: currency, locale, limit (default 17).
