Overview

GovBot Structure Inventory is a remote, read-only MCP server operated by Ideation Lab, Corp. It requires no account. It reads the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers National Structure Inventory (NSI 2026 Base) live and returns area summaries with the source, dataset version and retrieval time. What it returns: - Area summaries for a bounding box, a radius around a point, or a 2020 county, census tract or block group: structure counts by occupancy type, damage category, building type, foundation type and stories; floor area; estimated housing units. - Model-based replacement-cost estimates for the area (depreciated and full structure, contents, vehicles; August 2025 price level), as totals and medians. - Daytime and nighttime population estimates by age group. - A bounded sample of structure records near a point, with locations rounded and without value or population fields. - NSI occupancy codes, field definitions and documented limitations. Typical use: describe the building stock and population exposure of a neighborhood, tract or county for planning and mitigation work. How results are qualified: NSI is a modeled national inventory with known errors for individual structures; counts, values and populations are estimates; values are replacement cost, not market value, and exclude land. Areas are bounded and an area over a limit is reported, not partially summarized. No owner or address data. Not for appraisal, insurance, flood-zone or eligibility determinations. Not affiliated with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The server writes nothing.

Tools

list_structure_fields

Claude
Returns the National Structure Inventory 2026 Base reference tables used by this service, from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers NSI technical documentation: dataset version, price level and population level; occupancy type codes with damage category, description and content-to-structure value ratio; building type, foundation type and record source codes; definitions of the NSI fields summarized; and the documented limitations of the modeled inventory.

sample_structure_records

Claude
Returns up to 25 structure records of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers National Structure Inventory (NSI 2026 Base) API within a radius of up to 500 meters of a point, in NSI record order, with the total number in the radius and whether the list is truncated. Each record gives occupancy type, damage category, building type, foundation type and height, stories, floor area, estimated housing units, ground elevation, record and footprint source, location rounded to three decimal places (about 110 m) and 2020 block group. Records carry no value, population, owner, address or identifier fields.

summarize_structures_in_bounding_box

Claude
Aggregates the structure records of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers National Structure Inventory (NSI 2026 Base) API inside a latitude/longitude bounding box: structure count; counts by damage category, occupancy type, building type, foundation type, stories and record source; distinct building footprints; total and median floor area; estimated housing units; total and median depreciated structure, full replacement and contents replacement-cost estimates and total vehicle value (August 2025 price level); daytime (2 p.m.) and nighttime (2 a.m.) population estimates by age group; ground elevation range (feet, NAVD88); median foundation height. Values are model-based replacement-cost estimates for the area, not market values. Boxes are limited to 100 square kilometers and 20 km per side; an area with more than 50,000 structure records is reported as AREA_TOO_MANY_STRUCTURES rather than partially summarized.

summarize_structures_in_census_geography

Claude
Aggregates the structure records of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers National Structure Inventory (NSI 2026 Base) API assigned to a 2020 Census county (5-digit GEOID), census tract (11-digit) or block group (12-digit): structure count; counts by damage category, occupancy type, building type, foundation type, stories and record source; distinct building footprints; total and median floor area; estimated housing units; total and median depreciated structure, full replacement and contents replacement-cost estimates and total vehicle value (August 2025 price level); daytime (2 p.m.) and nighttime (2 a.m.) population estimates by age group; ground elevation range (feet, NAVD88); median foundation height. The geography name, land and water area and vintage come from the Census Bureau TIGERweb Census 2020 service; NSI assigns each record to a 2020 Census block. Values are model-based replacement-cost estimates for the area, not market values. Geographies over 25,000 square kilometers of land, or with more than 50,000 structure records, are reported as AREA_TOO_LARGE or AREA_TOO_MANY_STRUCTURES rather than partially summarized; tracts and block groups are smaller units.

summarize_structures_near_point

Claude
Aggregates the structure records of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers National Structure Inventory (NSI 2026 Base) API whose locations lie within a radius of a latitude/longitude point: structure count; counts by damage category, occupancy type, building type, foundation type, stories and record source; distinct building footprints; total and median floor area; estimated housing units; total and median depreciated structure, full replacement and contents replacement-cost estimates and total vehicle value (August 2025 price level); daytime (2 p.m.) and nighttime (2 a.m.) population estimates by age group; ground elevation range (feet, NAVD88); median foundation height. Values are model-based replacement-cost estimates for the area, not market values. The radius is 100 to 5000 meters; an area with more than 50,000 structure records is reported as AREA_TOO_MANY_STRUCTURES rather than partially summarized.
