Overview
Kove is a personal finance app for budgeting, savings goals, investments, retirement planning, and debt payoff. This app lets ChatGPT read a signed-in Kove user's own data: accounts and balances, net worth, budget vs. actual spending, spending by category and month-over-month comparisons, recent and searched transactions, recurring charges and subscriptions, unusual spending, savings goals, investments, retirement plan, and a credit card payoff projection (avalanche vs. snowball). If the user grants change access when connecting, ChatGPT can also update monthly or long-term budget amounts and custom categories; create, update, or contribute to savings goals; recategorize transactions or mark them reviewed; accept or dismiss detected recurring charges; update a credit card's limit, APR, or minimum payment; and update retirement plan assumptions. With the user's permission, it can send Kove's team a note about something Kove couldn't do. It cannot move money, make trades or payments, connect or disconnect banks, or change account or billing settings. Requires a Kove account with external app access turned on in Settings. Each connection is limited to one user, and every change is logged in Kove's Settings, where access can be revoked at any time.

ChatGPTCreate a new savings goal for the user. Ask for the same things the Goals page itself asks for rather than filling in defaults silently: the target amount, a target date, which category it is, how urgent it is, and whether it should track an existing account's balance.

get_accounts_summary
ChatGPTBalances and totals for the user's connected bank, credit, and cash accounts, plus this month's account snapshot.
get_budget_status
ChatGPTThe user's current budget: planned amounts per category, actual spending against them, and whether the active plan is the monthly or the long-term one. When a long-term budget exists, also its month range and which months have their own amounts, for the long-term write tools' month input.
get_debt_payoff_projection
ChatGPTProjects how long it takes to pay off the user's credit card debt, comparing the avalanche (highest interest first) and snowball (smallest balance first) strategies.
get_goals_status
ChatGPTThe user's savings goals with target amounts, current progress, and target dates.
get_investments_summary

recategorize_transaction
ChatGPTChange the category of a single transaction. Affects only that one transaction, never other transactions from the same merchant.
report_missing_capability
ChatGPTTells Kove's development team about something the user asked for that no current Kove tool can do. Only call this after asking the user whether they would like to notify the team about it, and only after they say yes: this sends the gap to Kove for review, it does not build the capability itself.
search_transactions
ChatGPTFinds specific transactions by merchant text, amount range, or date range. Use this instead of get_recent_transactions when the user is looking for a particular past transaction rather than a recent list, e.g. "that $47 Target charge from March".
update_budget
ChatGPTUpdate planned amounts or income in the user's monthly budget. Only the fields you pass are changed; the rest are left alone.
update_credit_card
ChatGPTUpdate a credit card's limit, APR, or minimum payment. Use get_debt_payoff_projection first to find which cards are missing this data and their ids.
update_custom_budget_category
ChatGPTChanges the planned amount of, or removes, a custom category in the user's monthly budget.
