Overview

Layerpath turns screenshots, screen recordings, Loom videos or YouTube links into interactive product walkthroughs with clickable steps and callouts over your real screens. Product, support, sales and training teams use them to explain software workflows. In Layerpath, a walkthrough is called a tour. Sign in with your Layerpath account or create one. Walkthroughs are saved to the workspace you select. In the chat, you can: - Create walkthroughs from attached screenshots, screen recordings, Loom videos or YouTube links. - Find walkthroughs by name, open them and play them in the chat. - Open a walkthrough in Layerpath's editor to change its steps by hand. - Edit step text, rename walkthroughs, reorder, merge, hide or delete steps, and change intro and outro content. - Change callout colors and styles, backgrounds and browser frames. - Blur private information, including names and email addresses, in screenshots. - Translate a walkthrough or duplicate it in another language. - Add voiceover using an AI voice. - Get share and embed links, or export a walkthrough as a video or a PDF guide. - Undo a change made through the chat. When Layerpath creates a walkthrough, it publishes it at a share link accessible to anyone with the link. Requesting a share link, or turning on Publish in Share, also publishes an unpublished walkthrough. Changes to published walkthroughs appear at their share links immediately. You can unpublish or delete walkthroughs in Layerpath. Repeating a creation, duplication or video export request creates another output each time. Layerpath works with existing screens and walkthroughs in your connected workspace. It doesn't design new interfaces or create text-only documents.

Tools

add_focus

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants to zoom in on part of a step, such as a button or field. Don't use it to reposition hotspots (edit_tour).

answer_plan

ChatGPT
Use this when Layerpath has an open plan: goAhead true applies it as written; change requests a revised plan. Don't use it without an open plan.

blur_sensitive

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants Layerpath to find and blur private information in screenshots, including names, emails or internal numbers. Don't use it to remove callout text.

cleanup_tour

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants Layerpath to clean up an entire tour by hiding stray steps, merging repeated screens, trimming idle video or improving text; Layerpath proposes a plan for approval. Don't use it to remove explicitly named steps (delete_steps).

create_tour

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants an interactive demo, product tour, clickable walkthrough, how-to guide, SOP, tutorial, onboarding or training material, a shareable tour link or a video of a flow, made from their screenshots, a screen recording or a Loom or YouTube link; Layerpath picks the steps, length and style unless the user says otherwise. Don't use it for screens that don't exist yet or a text-only document; pass the chat's attached screenshots or recording in files, in order, or the link, and with neither, it shows the user where to add their screens or a link; a retry makes another tour.

delete_steps

ChatGPT
Use this when deleting steps, or hiding them from viewers with hide true. Don't use it to combine steps (merge_steps).

duplicate_tour

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants to duplicate a tour without changing the original. Don't use it for translation alone (translate); a retry makes another copy, so check search_tours first.

edit_intro_outro

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants a tour's intro or outro card changed or added: title, subtitle, body, button, theme or cover picture (where a logo goes), saved as you write it. Don't use it for the steps' words (update_steps).

edit_step

ChatGPT
Use this when an earlier Layerpath interaction invokes the tool. Don't use it for unrelated requests.

edit_tour

ChatGPT
Use this only when no other Layerpath tool fits the change, such as adding a step, restyling the tour with the brand or fixing a hotspot: pass the user's request in plain words. Don't use it for words you can write yourself (update_steps).

export_pdf

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants a Layerpath tour as a PDF, document or guide file, "this as a PDF" after an answer about it too. Don't use it for video.

export_video

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants a tour as a video to post, send or download. Don't use it to view or share a tour; a retry makes another video.

generate_voiceover

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants Layerpath to write and record a voiceover for a tour or some steps, in a voice or language if they name one. Don't use it for scripts you wrote yourself (update_steps).

get_edit_status

ChatGPT
Use this when Layerpath is still applying an edit: pass its editId to check the result. Don't use it to check tour creation.

get_selection

ChatGPT
Use this when the user refers to "this", "here", "this step" or "this callout": it identifies the open tour and selection in Layerpath's editor. Don't use it when the step is explicitly identified.

get_tour

ChatGPT
Use this when you need a tour's numbered steps, callouts, descriptions, voiceover scripts and brand voice to answer questions or edit text. Don't use it to display the tour.

get_tour_status

ChatGPT
Use this when checking whether tour creation is ready or what the user changed in the editor. Don't use it to read tour content (get_tour).

get_video_status

ChatGPT
Use this when checking video export progress or retrieving its link. Don't use it to start an export.

list_tours

ChatGPT
Use this when an earlier Layerpath interaction invokes the tool. Don't use it for unrelated requests.

merge_steps

ChatGPT
Use this when merging adjacent steps into one: the last step remains with the callout, description and voiceover you write; earlier steps are hidden and their hotspots removed. Don't use it to remove steps without merging (delete_steps).

open_layerpath

ChatGPT
Use this when the user asks to open Layerpath, its home or their tours, or what it can do. Don't use it to make a tour (create_tour), find one (search_tours), or design or prototype screens that don't exist yet.

open_layerpath_tab

ChatGPT
Use this when ChatGPT opens the Layerpath tab through its menu. Don't use it for user requests; use open_layerpath.

quick_action

ChatGPT
Use this when an earlier Layerpath interaction invokes the tool. Don't use it for unrelated requests.

rename_tour

ChatGPT
Use this when renaming a tour; its intro title changes too. Don't use it to rename steps or sections.

reorder_steps

ChatGPT
Use this when changing step order: move one step or give all step numbers in their new order. Don't use it to remove steps (delete_steps).

search_tours

ChatGPT
Use this when finding earlier tours by name, newest first. Don't use it to search step content.

set_selection

ChatGPT
Use this when Layerpath reports a step or callout selection, or clears it. Don't use it for unrelated editor actions.

set_theme

ChatGPT
Use this when changing a tour's appearance across all steps: callout colors and style, background, browser frame or step numbers. Don't use it for company branding.

share

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants a share or embed link; it publishes an unpublished tour. Don't use it to display the tour.

show_tour

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants to view or play an existing Layerpath tour. Don't use it only to read its content or get its share link.

start_tour_from_upload

ChatGPT
Use this when a user uploads files through Layerpath and selects Create tour. A retry makes another tour.

studio_change

ChatGPT
Use this when Layerpath's editor reports a manual change to text, hotspots, image cropping, step order or visibility. Don't use it for unrelated actions.

studio_delete_step

ChatGPT
Use this when Layerpath's editor reports a step deletion confirmed by the user. Don't use it before confirmation.

translate

ChatGPT
Use this when translating a whole tour, in place or as a copy with asCopy. Don't use it for step text changes.

undo_edit

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants to undo an edit made through ChatGPT: pass its editId, or the projectId for the latest edit. Don't use it for changes made on app.layerpath.com.

update_steps

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants steps' words changed (shorter, clearer, another tone, a fix, new voiceover scripts): read them with get_tour, then write each as it should be saved, in the tour's language, keeping markdown and button and field names. Don't use it for cards (edit_intro_outro takes the intro and outro, edit_tour a section card) or to voice a silent tour (generate_voiceover).
