Overview

LexAgent gives ChatGPT the official texts of Dutch and EU law, so answers rest on the source instead of memory. It reads, straight from the government open-data services: - National legislation from wetten.overheid.nl, article by article and for any date (peildatum). - Local regulations of municipalities, provinces and water boards (APVs, verordeningen, omgevingsverordeningen). - Official publications: Staatsblad, Staatscourant, Gemeenteblad and parliamentary papers. - Dutch case law from Rechtspraak, by ECLI, court, area of law and date. - EU legislation and treaty articles from EUR-Lex, including consolidated versions and the Dutch implementing measures. - Case law of the Court of Justice of the EU, down to the numbered point, and Advocate General opinions. - Council information: proposals, motions with votes, decision lists and minutes of Dutch councils. Every document comes with a citation (article, ECLI or CELEX, version date) and a link to the official source. Two skills guide the work: Dutch legal research, and checking the legal claims in a document against the sources. LexAgent is read-only: it never changes anything at the sources or in your account. It provides legal information from public sources, not legal advice. A LexAgent account is required.

Tools

case-law-document

ChatGPT
Open a Dutch ruling by ECLI. Use overview for compact top-level structure, outline only to discover unknown sections, and structured or search_within for evidence. Prefer focused search over paging the entire ruling.

case-law-filters

ChatGPT
List the exact court (creator) and rechtsgebied (subject) values accepted by case-law-search, plus the document types. Call this to discover valid filter values; pass a court_query to narrow the (long) court list.

council-document

ChatGPT
Open a raadsinformatie entity returned by council-search: a document (its extracted text, chunked per heading), a meeting (agenda with stukken per agendapunt, moties with uitslag, opnamen with transcript) or a motion (uitslag, stemmen per fractie and the text of the attached document). Use overview or outline to see the agenda or headings, structured for text, search_within for focused evidence. Content is what the council published, not authorised law.

council-filters

ChatGPT
List the gemeenten, provincies and waterschappen whose raadsinformatie council-search covers, with their source system, import state and newest meeting date, plus the entity types and sort orders it accepts. Call it when an organisation is not found or to check whether a council is covered at all.

eu-case-law-document

ChatGPT
Open a CJEU judgment, order or Advocate General opinion by ECLI (ECLI:EU:C:2020:559), CELEX (62018CJ0311) or case number (C-311/18), in Dutch when Cellar has it. overview returns the official abstract (legal points with "zie punten" pointers) when one exists; outline lists headings and numbered points; structured returns the points themselves. When the point is known, fetch it directly with point_reference ("42", "82-89", "dictum"). Dutch rulings (ECLI:NL:...) belong to case-law-document.

eu-case-law-filters

ChatGPT
List the values eu-case-law-search accepts: courts, document types, procedure codes (procjur), court formations, case-law subject-matter codes, and a Dutch term lookup into the CJEU classification (classification_query). Call it when a filter value is unknown; the identifier forms and default scope are included.

eu-law-document

ChatGPT
Open an EU regulation, directive, decision or treaty article by CELEX number or reference (e.g. "Verordening (EU) 2016/679", "artikel 101 VWEU"). Serves the latest consolidated Dutch text by default. Use overview for compact or top-level structure, outline only to discover unknown article references, and structured for evidence. When an article is known, fetch it directly with article_reference and skip overview/outline. Prefer this consolidated text over reconstructing current law from amendment publications.

eu-law-filters

ChatGPT
List the values eu-law-search accepts: resource-type codes, EUR-Lex subject-matter codes, Directory of EU legislation chapters and author codes, and look up EuroVoc subject ids by a Dutch term (eurovoc_query). Call this before filtering by subject; pass subject_query or directory_chapter to narrow the long lists.

legislation-document

ChatGPT
Open national legislation. Use overview for compact top-level structure, outline only to discover unknown references, and structured for evidence. When an article is known, fetch it directly with article_reference and skip overview/outline. Prefer a search result state_identifier to pin the exact legal state.

local-regulation-document

ChatGPT
Open the current consolidated CVDR text, including STOP/LVBB omgevingsverordeningen and waterschapsverordeningen. Use overview for compact top-level structure, outline only to discover unknown references, and structured for evidence. When an article/section is known, fetch it directly with its reference selector. Prefer this consolidated text over reconstructing current law from amendment publications.

publication-document

ChatGPT
Open an official publication. Use overview for compact top-level structure, outline only to discover unknown sections, and structured or search_within for evidence. Prefer focused search over paging the entire publication.

server-status

ChatGPT
Return a read-only status snapshot of the LexAgent MCP server and its enabled legal-source configuration.
