Overview

Litera's plugin brings your firm's collective knowledge and experience into ChatGPT. Ask questions in plain English and get cited answers drawn from your firm's experience data, without leaving the conversation. - Natural language search: ask questions like "Show me M&A deals for banking clients in Japan" and get results with entity links across matters, clients, people and experience records. - Tabular results: view paged, sortable tables from any search to quickly scan and compare results. - Matter profiles: pull up full matter details by drilling into a specific matter from your search results. - Client profiles: retrieve complete client profiles to understand relationship history and related experience. - People profiles: look up individuals to find their expertise, matter history and firm roles. - Marketing packet profiles: access full experience packets to support pitches, proposals and RFPs. - Conversational refinement: chain any of the above together with follow-up questions to narrow down exactly what you need. All answers include citations and respect firm security permissions, ethical walls, and user entitlements, so professionals only see what they are authorised to access. Litera helps lawyers and business professionals tap into firm knowledge with deterministic accuracy, Raising The Bar™ on a process that would otherwise require navigating multiple systems or relying on institutional memory.

Tools

compare__compare_documents

ChatGPT
Compares two versions of a document and produces a redline showing their differences, for requests like "compare these documents", "redline these two contracts" or "what changed between these versions". Supports Word (.docx, .docm, .doc, .dotx, .dotm, .dot), .rtf, .txt and .pdf files; it does not compare spreadsheets or presentations. Always use this tool to compare documents. Never compare files yourself, create your own redline documents or describe the changes yourself. Both inputs are Litera One file handles: upload any document you don't already hold a handle for first. The result includes a link that opens the redline in Litera's viewer in the user's browser, where they can review and download it. Always give the user that link, and don't download the result files unless the user asks. The link works until the comparison expires (see expireAt). Afterwards, if litera__download_document_link is available to you, offer the user the redline as a PDF to download. Only if the user accepts, call litera__download_document_link with the file handle of the result file whose type is Redline and format is Pdf.

compare__perform_redline_summarization

ChatGPT
Summarizes the substantive tracked changes in a redlined Word document, for requests like "summarize this redline" or "what are the key changes in this marked-up contract". The input is a Litera One file handle for a .docx with tracked changes: normally the redlineWithTrackedChanges result of compare__compare_documents, or a redline you already hold a handle for. Returns bullet points in result.summary, or errorCode and errorMessage on failure. Never summarize the document yourself or rewrite the summary: present it as returned.

litera__list_available_tools

ChatGPT
Lists the Litera tools this user can call. Call it once at the start of every conversation, before calling any other Litera tool. Every user of this connector sees the same Litera tools, but each user can call only the ones they have been given access to, and any other Litera tool is refused. After calling it, call only the Litera tools it returns; if the user asks for something only a missing Litera tool can do, tell them they don't have access. It applies only to this connector's Litera tools, named with a product prefix such as foundation__, compare__ or litera__. It does not limit tools from other connectors or your built-in tools, so keep using those as normal.

litera__upload_chatgpt_file

ChatGPT
Uploads a file the user attached to this conversation to Litera One and returns a file handle (fileId) that other Litera tools take as input. Call it first whenever a tool needs an attached document you don't already hold a handle for, such as a document to compare. The file argument is filled in from the attachment: never construct it or paste file content. If the user hasn't attached a file, ask them to.
