Overview

Every luxury hotel has the same photo of the same pool. What you want to know is what your days there will be like. How you arrive, and how long it takes. What you see when you open the curtains. Whether you can walk into the sea from your villa and find fish. Where breakfast is, and whether dinner is worth staying in for. What the children will do. What happens when it rains. All of that exists, scattered: in the hotel's own pages, in thousands of guest reviews, in travellers' videos, in price lists, in weather records. We collected it, hotel by hotel, and we keep it up to date ourselves. Whatever Lumina tells you comes with where it was read and when. Tell it your trip and it shows the hotels that fit, on a map. Ask about any of them and it answers with what staying there is like: the photos, the prices through the year, what guests say. It doesn't take bookings, and when it doesn't know something, it says so. We know the Maldives best; more places are coming.

Tools

check_hotel_fact

ChatGPT
Use this when someone asks a specific question about one hotel (can you swim to the house reef from the beach, how long is the transfer, is there a kids' club, which meals are included, are pets allowed). Returns saved source facts with their statuses, quotes, dates and conditions, or says that the answer is not established. When the saved facts do not answer, it also reads the hotel's own public website now, through a search limited to that site, and returns the passage labelled as read today and not verified by Lumina. Conflicting and partial answers are marked as such. Not for prices or availability.

compare_hotels

ChatGPT
Use this when the traveller hesitates between 2 to 4 named hotels. Compare only on the criteria of this trip; returns, per hotel and criterion, the verdict and the sentence that proves it.

fetch

ChatGPT
Use this to read the full Lumina dossier of a hotel returned by search, to quote and cite it.

find_stays

ChatGPT
Use this when a traveller describes the stay they want (who travels, why, when, what they need, what they want to avoid) and asks which luxury hotel fits. It takes the trip in the vocabulary below: must_have for what is essential, nice_to_have for what would be welcome. Returns 8 candidates with, for each criterion, the verdict and the verbatim sentence that proves it, guest reviews that mention it, the best matching experience and a photo. Not for prices, availability or booking. Vocabulary: access_conditions.accessibility = Step-free access; access_conditions.book_ahead = Must be booked well ahead; access_conditions.experience_needs_room_type = The experience needs a specific room; access_conditions.extra_cost = Costs extra; access_conditions.street_noise = Road or street noise in some rooms; atmosphere.barefoot = Barefoot and unbuttoned; atmosphere.design_led = Design-led; atmosphere.grand_historic = Grand and historic; atmosphere.hushed = Hushed and calm; atmosphere.lively_social = Lively and social; atmosphere.local_culture = Rooted in local culture; audience.adults_only = Adults only; audience.couple_romance = Built for couples; audience.group_friends = Groups of friends; audience.small_children = Easy with small children; audience.solo = Comfortable alone; audience.teens = Good for teenagers; audience.with_dog = Travelling with a dog; credentials.forbes_stars = Forbes Travel Guide stars; credentials.michelin_keys = MICHELIN Keys; credentials.reviews_beat_peers = Guests rate it above its rivals; food.board_included = Meals included in the rate; food.destination_restaurant = A restaurant worth the trip; food.eat_local_nearby = Good local places within reach; food.private_dining = Private dining anywhere; isolation.no_buildings_in_view = No buildings in view; isolation.no_town_nearby = No town within walking distance; isolation.off_grid = Truly off the grid; isolation.remote_but_easy = Remote feeling, easy journey; privacy.exclusive_use = The whole place can be yours; privacy.no_common_areas = You never have to cross public areas; privacy.no_neighbour_noise = You don't hear other guests; privacy.outdoor_not_overlooked = Your terrace or garden is not overlooked; privacy.private_pool = A pool or water just for you; privacy.room_not_overlooked = Nobody can see into the room; rhythm.base_for_exploring = A base for exploring; rhythm.curated_days = Days are curated for you; rhythm.do_nothing_well = Doing nothing feels complete; rhythm.improvise = Easy to improvise; season_fit.best_months_stated = Best months are known; season_fit.event_driven = Tied to an event; season_fit.rainy_season_risk = Rainy or windy season to know about; season_fit.seasonal_closure = Closes part of the year; space_scale.30_to_120_units = 30 to 120 units; space_scale.crowded_peaks = Common areas get crowded at peaks; space_scale.over_120_units = Over 120 units; space_scale.under_30_units = Under 30 rooms or villas; transfer.1_to_3h = 1 to 3 hours; transfer.car_free = No car needed during the stay; transfer.over_3h_or_connection = Over 3 hours or a connecting flight; transfer.seaplane_or_boat = Arrival by seaplane or boat; transfer.under_1h = Under 1 hour from an international airport; view.city_skyline = City or landmark; view.lagoon = Lagoon; view.lake = Lake; view.mountains = Mountains; view.sea_ocean = Sea or ocean; view.sunrise_facing = Faces the sunrise; view.sunset_facing = Faces the sunset; water.beach_on_site = A real beach on site; water.calm_shallow = Calm, shallow water for children; water.heated_year_round = Heated pool usable in cold months; water.house_reef = Snorkel from the shore; water.pool_with_view = A pool that frames the view; water.swim_from_room = Swim straight from the room; wellness.adults_only_spa = Spa areas are adults-only; wellness.medical_wellness = Medical or longevity programmes; wellness.spa_with_view = Spa with a view; wellness.thermal_circuit = A real thermal circuit; wellness.treatments_only = Treatment rooms only; wildlife_nature.big_five = Big game on drives; wildlife_nature.marine_life = Marine life: rays, turt…

get_destination_dossier

ChatGPT
Use this when someone asks about a destination itself rather than a hotel: the best month, weather and sea, marine seasons (mantas, whale sharks, turtles), entry rules, taxes, transfers, flights and time zones, or to explain a seasonal trade-off. A destination Lumina has not researched yet comes back with no answers; say so. Returns full saved evidence, dates and limitations. Optional include_atolls adds covered atolls to the destination dossier. Resort-specific access and exact booking prices need the resort dossier and dated price tool.

get_hotel_dossier

ChatGPT
Use this when someone wants to know one hotel Lumina covers in depth before deciding. Reads its source-backed knowledge: transfers, island, reef, marine access, named rooms and villas, dining and meal plans, wellness, child policies, experiences, offers and guest observations. Without topics it returns every answer in one line (status, the answer, source, date); with topics it returns those answers in full. Each fact carries its source_type, status, quote, dates, conditions and sample limits. Marketing claims and guest reports establish different things. Missing fields are unknown. Use the dated price tool for a specific stay.

get_photo_page

ChatGPT
For the Lumina photos view only: the next photos of the same hotel and kind of place.

get_price_rows

ChatGPT
For the Lumina price view only: every offer of one month, or every official-site rate with its source, for one hotel.

get_review_page

ChatGPT
For the Lumina reviews view only: the next reviews for the same hotel and filters.

get_stay_price_references

ChatGPT
Use this when the traveller gives dates and who travels and asks what a specific hotel or villa costs. Reads saved hotel, seller and named-room price observations for those stay dates and that party. Returns capture times, the original query, currency, separate amount units and unknown inclusions. These are collected references; this tool does not check live availability or book. A hotel calendar minimum or an offer with unknown units is not the price of the chosen villa. Use the hotel's rate page to confirm the selected room, party, meals, taxes and transfer.

get_stay_sources

ChatGPT
For the Lumina comparison view only: every saved answer, with its source, for one resort and the villa proposed.

plan_destination_stay

ChatGPT
Use this when someone asks which luxury hotel, resort or villa to book for a trip (honeymoon, family, friends), where to stay in a destination Lumina covers, or whether a named hotel suits their trip. Not for flights or booking. Lumina compares every hotel it covers in the destination for this trip with a hotel expert's rules: it excludes those that cannot work and says why, ranks the rest, names the villa type and the units guests recommend, gives the room quotes collected for the month, and lists the risks and the gaps in its sources. When few resorts fit, it may read a resort's own public website now for a must-have it has not established, and labels that passage as read today, not verified by Lumina. It shows the traveller its shortlist in the chat (map, table or cards, by layout), so show_comparison is needed only for other hotels or another layout. The view carries the detail; a short answer covers the pick, its cost with the deciding condition and the trade-off. Criteria: overwater_pool_villa = An overwater villa with its own pool; beach_pool_villa = A beach villa with its own pool; sunset_villa = The villa faces the sunset; calm_water = Calm water under the villa in the travel month; house_reef = A reef you can swim to from the beach; reef_from_water_villa = Reef reachable by swimming from the water villas; adults_only = Adults only (no children on the island); family_friendly = Works for the children's ages (kids club, minimum age); small_island = Small and intimate (50 villas or fewer); all_inclusive = All-inclusive available; speedboat_transfer = Reached by speedboat (no seaplane, arrival after dark possible); short_transfer = Transfer of 45 minutes or less; spa_thermal = Spa with sauna, steam or hammam; mantas = Manta rays reachable in the travel month; whale_sharks = Whale sharks reachable; surf = A surf break nearby; michelin = MICHELIN Keys; great_food = Guests consistently praise the food; quiet = Quiet, calm atmosphere; recent = Opened or fully renovated in the last eight years (modern design)

show_comparison

ChatGPT
Shows the traveller, in their language, each resort's story for this trip: why it fits and where it falls short, the villa to book, the price on their dates and the villa quote, what guests say, what to watch, scenes from videos, and a side-by-side view. It is for other hotels than the plan's shortlist (2-6 ids, same trip details) or another layout, asked in a later message: plan_destination_stay already shows its own shortlist. It fills the reply's one Lumina view and carries the comparison, so a short reply covers the pick, its cost with the deciding condition and what is not established.

show_destination

ChatGPT
Use this when the traveller asks about a destination or atoll Lumina covers rather than a hotel: the best months and the wet season, the sea temperature and visibility, mantas and whale sharks by season, coral bleaching, hyperbaric chambers for divers, high and low season, flights from Europe, seaplane and speedboat, entry and visa, taxes, alcohol, Ramadan, school holidays, how many nights. Shows the months and the facts with their source; returns them as text. It fills the reply's one Lumina view; the traveller opens the rest from the view itself or asks in the next message.

show_hotel

ChatGPT
Use this when the traveller asks about a hotel Lumina covers as a whole ("tell me about Baros", "what is it like": topic overview, its decisive fact for each part and its best photos), or about one part of it, or the same part of two or three: the villas (which one, size, pool, privacy, steps to the water), the arrival (seaplane or boat, minutes, cost, late landings), the sea (house reef from the beach, coral, mantas, turtles, snorkelling), the food (board plans, what all-inclusive leaves out, restaurants, the verdict), children (minimum age, kids club and its ages, babysitting, teens, family villas) or a day there (signature experiences, what is free, the spa, the atmosphere, the guests, a rainy day). Shows the saved facts with their source and date, the photos of that part and what is not established; returns the facts as text. It fills the reply's one Lumina view; the traveller opens the rest from the view itself or asks in the next message.

show_hotel_proof

ChatGPT
Use this when the traveller wants to see something at a hotel ('show me the walk from the villa to the beach', 'what does the spa look like'). Returns the closest photos and the exact seconds of videos, with credits. It returns nothing when nothing matches.

show_photos

ChatGPT
Use this when the traveller wants to see a hotel Lumina covers: all its photos, or those of one kind of place (the villa, the bathroom, the private pool, the beach, the reef and wildlife, the spa, the restaurants, the arrival…), and scenes of videos at their exact second. Each photo carries its credit and the page it came from. Shows them in a view and returns how many there are of each kind. It fills the reply's one Lumina view; the traveller opens the rest from the view itself or asks in the next message.

show_prices

ChatGPT
Not for a request to book, to reserve or to check live availability: Lumina does neither and has no view for it. Use this when the traveller wants to see what a hotel costs and why: who sells it and for how much (the official site and other sellers), how the price changes month by month and night by night, whether their dates are cheap or dear for that hotel, and how prices moved since Lumina started recording them. Lumina holds dated observations for the hotels it covers: a seven-night stay for two adults each month with room, meal plan, cancellation and excluded charges; the sellers of one week with the rooms they name; the cheapest room for every night; the hotel's own rates. Every figure names its source and the day it was collected. Shows them in a view and returns a short summary. One call with the traveller's dates, when given, returns every view, so calling again without new hotels or dates adds nothing. Observations are dated, not live availability; this does not book. It fills the reply's one Lumina view; the traveller opens the rest from the view itself or asks in the next message.

show_reviews

ChatGPT
Use this when the traveller wants to read what guests say about a hotel Lumina covers: all reviews, the recent ones, the critical ones, reviews about one thing (the food, the reef, the service, the villa, the transfer, children, the spa, value, quiet, upkeep, activities), or reviews by couples, honeymooners, families or friends. Shows guest reviews in a view, each with its source and date, sorted by what they talk about, and returns counts. It fills the reply's one Lumina view; the traveller opens the rest from the view itself or asks in the next message.
