Overview

Bring your Parrot Spanish level, streak, and vocabulary into ChatGPT, and save words you learn back to Parrot. Parrot is a Spanish learning app. Once you connect your Parrot account, ChatGPT can see your Parrot level and the matching CEFR level, your day streak, and the Spanish words you are learning and already know. It uses them to pitch explanations, conversations, and quizzes at your level and around your own words. When you ask, ChatGPT can save new Spanish words to your Parrot dictionary as learning or known, and count a real practice session toward your Parrot streak. Who it's for: Parrot learners who want to practice Spanish in ChatGPT with the same level and vocabulary they use in the app. Limitations: requires a Parrot account. Spanish only. ChatGPT cannot change your Parrot level, and it never sees your email, password, payment details, or listening history. You can disconnect at any time in Parrot under Settings, Connected Apps.

Call this first in every conversation. Returns the learner's Parrot Spanish level, day streak, and how many words they are learning and know. Teach at level.cefr (for example "Lower B1"); if it is null, ask the learner or start gently. Use level.parrotLevel only as the learner-facing name of their level. Neither level can be changed through Parrot's tools, so never try to set it and never tell the learner it changed.

list_known_words

ChatGPT

Lists the Spanish words the learner already knows in Parrot, most recently updated first. Call this only when the learner asks what they know or asks you to check a specific word; use list_learning_words to choose practice. Pass nextCursor back as cursor to get the next page.

Lists the Spanish words the learner is currently learning in Parrot, most recently updated first. Prefer this when choosing what to practice. Pass nextCursor back as cursor to get the next page; nextCursor is null on the last page.

record_practice_today

ChatGPT

Counts today toward the learner's Parrot day streak. Call it once, after a real Spanish practice session with the learner, not at the start and not for small talk. incremented is false when today was already counted. It does not change the learner's level.

set_word_status

ChatGPT

Saves up to 50 Spanish words to the learner's Parrot dictionary as learning or known. Call this only when the learner explicitly asks you to save or mark words. Give nativeWord (the English meaning) for every word; Parrot keeps its existing meaning for words it already has. Afterwards, say plainly which words were saved and their status. Saving words never changes the learner's level, so never say it did.
