Permit Plotter
By Permit Plotter, LLC
Overview
Permit Plotter gives you verified building permits from building offices across the East End of Long Island, New York: the towns of Southampton, East Hampton, Southold and Shelter Island, and the villages of Southampton, East Hampton, Quogue, Sagaponack, North Haven, Sag Harbor, Westhampton Beach and West Hampton Dunes. Ask in plain English. Search permits by town, hamlet, kind of work (pools, roofs, solar, new houses and more), property type, status and dates. Count permits for questions like "how many new pools did Southampton issue this year?" Open one permit to see its full record: address, owner, contractor, the work described, estimated cost and dates, plus other permits on the same property and the builder's checked office phone, email and website. Download any search as a spreadsheet. See permits on an interactive map you can tap, open fullscreen to sort and read, and open any permit as a card with its builder's checked office line. Records start on January 1, 2026 and grow every month. There is no earlier history, apart from a few Southampton applications filed in 2025 that are still awaiting a decision. Every fact comes from the building office's own record. When an office did not supply something, the answer leaves it blank instead of guessing. Who it is for: trade companies, builders, suppliers and real estate agents who find work through new permits. Good to know: you sign in with your Permit Plotter account when you connect. Coverage is the East End of Long Island only. The connector reads records: it never changes a permit, contacts anyone or sends a message. The one thing it prepares is a one-time link to a spreadsheet. Spreadsheet downloads are limited to three a day per account.

ChatGPTpermitplotter_list_filter_options
ChatGPTpermitplotter_lookup_names
ChatGPTpermitplotter_permit_counts
ChatGPTmatching (the number of permits that pass every filter; as-built permits are left out unless includeAsBuilt is true) plus breakdowns of exactly those permits by town, kind of premises, kind of work, group of work, hamlet and status. A permit can carry several kinds of work at once, so byLabel counts it under each and does not add up to matching. A breakdown appears only when it can be computed exactly for the filters given, so a missing one means unknown, never zero. The dataset* fields describe the whole dataset, not your filtered set: datasetTotalPermits is every permit on file, and the dataset dates are the range on file, not the range of your matching permits. Answers questions like how many pool permits Southampton issued this year.permitplotter_search_permits
ChatGPTpermitplotter_show_map
ChatGPTtotal, the exact number matching, which is larger than the page. Suited to questions about WHERE work is, or to seeing, browsing or comparing permits by place; permitplotter_search_permits gives the records in words and permitplotter_permit_counts gives how many. The map is shown to the person, and the permits are in this result too. Permits without a known place are listed but not drawn. Villages whose permits are not collected have no permits of their own to map.permitplotter_show_permit
