Overview

Chashmalink answers questions about Israeli household electricity from measured smart-meter data rather than estimates off a bill. Behind it sits an analysed corpus of more than 20,000 Israeli households across 500+ municipalities, each a full hourly export from Israel Electric Corporation — up to 17,520 meter readings per home. That is what lets these tools answer with a number rather than a rule of thumb. Ten read-only tools: • compare_electricity_plans — rank every plan on the Israeli market by what it would save a specific household, per month and per year. Takes a monthly kWh figure or, far better, a 24-hour load curve. • simulate_solar_tracks — price Israel's two mutually exclusive rooftop solar tracks against a real load shape, with payback and a recommendation. Which one pays more depends on WHEN a household consumes — the thing a roof-area calculator cannot see. • get_city_consumption_benchmark — median monthly consumption, profile mix and 24-hour curve for a given Israeli city. • get_national_load_curve — national demand by hour, day of week and season. • classify_consumption_profile — classify a home as evening, night, morning, weekend or balanced, with peakiness and a night-shift opportunity figure. • estimate_appliance_cost, size_air_conditioner, compare_ev_running_cost — running costs for appliances, air conditioning and electric cars at the current tariff. • get_supplier_directory — every supplier and plan with its discount structure. • how_to_export_my_iec_data — how a household downloads its own consumption file. Privacy: no per-household data is reachable here. Every figure is either computed from the caller's own inputs or is a population aggregate published only where at least 25 analysed households sit behind it; a thinner cohort is refused rather than answered thinly. Nothing here writes, submits or contacts anyone. Free, no account, no API key. Figures are in shekels and kWh.

Tools

analyze_iec_consumption_file

ChatGPT
Turn a household's own Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) smart-meter export into a consumption profile. Use this whenever the person has, or can download, their hourly usage file from the IEC website — it replaces every estimate in the other tools with their measured data. Provide exactly one of: file (when the person attaches the CSV in this chat), csv_text (a pasted excerpt), or upload_token (after create_iec_upload_link — use that for a full-year file, or when attaching does not work). Returns a profile_id: pass it to compare_electricity_plans, simulate_solar_tracks and classify_consumption_profile instead of hourly_profile or monthly_kwh. If the person does not have the file, call how_to_export_my_iec_data first. Personal details in the file (name, address, meter number) are discarded; only hour-of-day and monthly totals are kept, for 30 days. Only if the person explicitly agrees (contribute_to_statistics: true), the file's hourly readings are also added anonymously to Chashmalink's national consumption statistics, after the 30 days. Deleting the profile before then (delete_consumption_profile) means they are never added; once added they cannot be withdrawn.

check_smart_meter_at_address

ChatGPT
Check whether a smart electricity meter (מונה חכם) is installed at a specific Israeli street address. A smart meter is the prerequisite for time-of-use electricity plans and for exporting the hourly consumption file, so use this when someone asks whether they can switch supplier, whether they have a smart meter, or what they need before comparing plans. Requires the city, street and house number separately. Answers only about the address given; it holds no information about who lives there, their consumption or their supplier.

classify_consumption_profile

ChatGPT
Classify a household's electricity consumption pattern as evening, morning, night, weekend or balanced from its hourly consumption, and report how peaky it is and how many kWh per month could realistically be shifted into night hours. Use it to explain WHY a particular tariff suits a household — a night-heavy home and an evening-heavy home want opposite plans. On the v2 server, pass profile_id (from analyze_iec_consumption_file) to use the household's measured consumption instead.

compare_electricity_plans

ChatGPT
Rank every electricity plan available in Israel by how much money it would save a specific household, in shekels per month and per year. This is the single most common question about Israeli electricity — use it whenever someone asks which supplier or plan is cheapest, how much they could save by switching, or whether a particular plan is worth it. Accepts either a rough monthly kWh figure or, much better, the household's 24-hour consumption curve. Each result may include a link to Chashmalink's page for that supplier, where the visitor can compare it further, request a callback, or open the supplier's own signup. Chashmalink may earn a referral fee if they switch. Ranking is by calculated saving only and is never affected by that. Pass current_plan_slug ("iec-default" when they buy directly from the IEC, the most common case) to get each plan's saving versus what they pay today. When you recommend or list plans, include each plan's details_url as a link, so the person can compare it, request a callback or sign up.

compare_ev_running_cost

ChatGPT
Compare what an electric car costs to drive in Israel against a petrol car, using the live electricity tariff and the current 95-octane price. Returns agorot per kilometre and shekels per year for both, plus the annual saving. Use it for 'is an EV cheaper to run', 'how much does it cost to charge a <model>', or to compare specific EV models. Call with no model to list what is available.

delete_consumption_profile

ChatGPT
Delete a consumption profile created by analyze_iec_consumption_file, before its 30 days are up. Use it when the person asks to delete their data. It deletes the profile; the anonymous national totals the file was added to cannot be separated back out.

estimate_appliance_cost

ChatGPT
Calculate what a specific household appliance costs to run in Israel, in shekels per hour, per month and per year, using the live regulated electricity tariff. Use it for 'how much does my air conditioner / dryer / boiler cost to run', or to compare two appliances. Call with no appliance name to list what is available.

explain_supplier_switch_process

ChatGPT
Explain how switching household electricity supplier works in Israel since the market opened to private suppliers: what changes and what does not, what a household needs before it can switch, the steps involved, and how the discounts are structured. Use this as the opening answer whenever someone asks how to switch electricity supplier, whether it is worth switching, what the electricity reform means for them, or what the process involves. It returns process facts only — call compare_electricity_plans for figures and check_smart_meter_at_address for eligibility.

get_city_consumption_benchmark

ChatGPT
Real measured electricity consumption for households in a specific Israeli city: how many households we have analysed there, their median monthly kWh, the mix of consumption profiles (evening/night/morning/weekend/balanced), and the average 24-hour load curve. This comes from actual smart-meter exports, not estimates from bills. Use it to answer 'how much electricity does a typical home in <city> use' or to compare a household against its own city. Cities with too few analysed households to publish safely are refused rather than answered thinly.

get_national_load_curve

ChatGPT
Israel's national household electricity load curve, measured: average consumption by hour of day, by day of week, and by season. Use it for questions about when Israelis use electricity, why evening peaks matter, how summer compares to winter, or as the baseline a specific household should be compared against.

get_supplier_directory

ChatGPT
List every private electricity supplier operating in Israel and the plans each one offers, with its discount structure and whether it is currently accepting new customers through us. Use it for questions about who the suppliers are, what a specific supplier offers, or how the discount types differ — not for ranking by savings, which is compare_electricity_plans.

how_to_export_my_iec_data

ChatGPT
Explain, step by step, how a household in Israel downloads its own detailed electricity consumption file from Israel Electric Corporation (IEC), and where to upload it for a precise personalised analysis. Use this whenever someone wants a figure specific to THEIR home rather than an average, asks where their consumption data comes from, or asks what they need in order to get an exact answer. Every other tool's answer should end by pointing here.

simulate_solar_tracks

ChatGPT
Price BOTH of Israel's mutually-exclusive residential solar tracks against a household's actual consumption and say which one pays more: מונה נטו (net metering — self-consumed kWh avoid the full retail tariff, surplus exported earns only the low export rate) versus מסלול ירוק (feed-in tariff — every produced kWh earns a rate locked for 25 years, while the household keeps buying all its electricity at retail). Returns payback years, lifetime return and the recommended track for each. Use it for any question about whether solar panels are worth it in Israel, which solar track to choose, or how long a system takes to pay for itself. Which track wins depends entirely on WHEN a household consumes — daytime-heavy homes favour net metering, night-heavy homes favour the feed-in tariff — so supply hourly_profile whenever it is known. On the v2 server, pass profile_id (from analyze_iec_consumption_file) to use the household's measured consumption instead.

size_air_conditioner

ChatGPT
Work out what size air conditioner (in BTU and horsepower) a room needs, and what it will cost to run per hour and per month at Israel's current electricity tariff. Use it for 'what size AC do I need for a room of N square metres' or 'how much does running an air conditioner cost'. Air conditioning is typically the largest single load in an Israeli home, so this is also a useful lever when someone is trying to cut a bill.
