Overview

RateMyVSO gives ChatGPT the VA's own rulebooks and real Board of Veterans' Appeals data, so answers to VA disability questions come from sources a veteran can check. When you ask a VA disability question, ChatGPT looks it up on RateMyVSO and gets the VA rating rules for a condition (38 CFR Part 4) in plain English, the parts of the M21-1 claims manual VA raters use, Board of Veterans' Appeals data (how appeals were decided, why service connection was denied, the evidence named in granted decisions, and which conditions veterans claimed as secondary), and RateMyVSO's guides on claims, secondary conditions, nexus letters, C&P exams, TDIU, SMC, the PACT Act, effective dates and appeals. Every answer links to the RateMyVSO page each fact came from. Sign in once with Google or Apple; a RateMyVSO account is made for you. RateMyVSO is information, not legal, medical or claim advice. It never files or plans a claim, and it is not part of the VA.

Tools

lookup_va_condition

ChatGPT
Look up one VA disability condition by diagnostic code (e.g. 6847), condition name (e.g. sleep apnea, GERD, migraine) or ICD-10 code, and get the exact figures RateMyVSO prints for it: the VA rating criteria at each percentage; Board of Veterans' Appeals outcomes (issues granted, denied and remanded, by type of claim, by medical opinion, represented vs self-represented); why service connection was denied; the evidence cited and the symptoms recorded in granted Board decisions; secondary conditions claimed with it in each direction; linked toxic exposures; C&P exam problems the Board found; and the RateMyVSO pages that show them. Use it whenever the veteran names a condition, alongside research_va_disability_question.

research_va_disability_question

ChatGPT
Use for any veteran's question about VA disability benefits: VA disability claims, ratings and rating criteria, VA diagnostic codes, secondary service connection (is X secondary to Y), nexus letters, C&P exams, toxic exposures and the PACT Act, TDIU, SMC, effective dates, appeals and Board of Veterans' Appeals decisions, and military service. Returns RateMyVSO reference material for the question: the most relevant pages from ratemyvso.net, Board of Veterans' Appeals findings and secondary-condition data when they apply, links, and the rules for writing the answer. Your model writes the answer. Pass page (a RateMyVSO guide slug such as "tdiu") only when the veteran is asking about that specific guide.
