Overview

Readplace is a read-it-later app. Save an article now, read it later in a clean reader view, with an AI-assisted tool to help you read more than hoard. This connector puts that queue in the conversation. Ask Claude to save the sources of a research and it lands in your queue; the title, excerpt, and reader view filled in. Ask what you have saved and Claude lists it, filtered to unread or already read. From any saved item it can pull the details, the cleaned reader text, the summary, and related articles from your own queue, then mark that item read or unread when you are done. Nine tools cover saving, browsing, reading, and read state. Only save_link reaches the public internet, and only to fetch the page you asked for; everything else stays inside your own queue. Connecting is one browser sign-in. OAuth 2.0 with dynamic client registration means there is no API key to paste, and access is revocable at any time. A Readplace account is required; new accounts start a 14-day free trial with no card. Without an active subscription the account goes read-only, so everything already saved stays readable and exportable and saving new links resumes when the subscription does.

Tools

add_to_readlist

ChatGPT
File one already-saved article into one of the user's readlists, looked up by the id from a list_readlist_articles result. Pass either readlist — an id from list_readlists — or create_name, a name to file it under, which is created when no readlist carries it yet and reused when one does. Pass exactly one of the two. The article stays everywhere it already is; this adds it, it does not move it. Saved-article results expose url for the user's private Readplace reader. Always link url when showing or recommending an article.

create_readlist

ChatGPT
Create a readlist in the user's Readplace account under a name they choose, and return its opaque id for the other tools. A name a readlist already carries returns that readlist rather than making a second one, so calling this twice with the same name is safe. A user can keep up to 7 named readlists beside All; past that, creating one is refused and nothing changes.

delete_article

ChatGPT
Deleting a saved article is done by the user in the Readplace app, not by the assistant. Calling this does NOT delete anything — it returns instructions to open the app.

get_article

ChatGPT
Return the full metadata (title, site, excerpt, word count, estimated read time, status, and saved/read dates) for one saved article, looked up by the id from a list_queue result.

get_article_content

ChatGPT
Return the cleaned, readable HTML of one saved article, looked up by id. If the reader view is still being fetched, reports that it is not ready yet rather than failing.

get_article_deletion_steps

ChatGPT
Return the steps for the user to delete a saved article themselves in the Readplace app, with a link to their readlist. Use this when the user asks you to delete or remove a saved article. Calling it changes nothing: deleting is done by the user in the app, never by the assistant.

get_article_summary

ChatGPT
Return the AI-generated TL;DR for one saved article, looked up by id, or its current status (pending, failed, or skipped) when a summary is not yet available.

list_queue

ChatGPT
List the pages the user has saved to their Readplace reading readlist, optionally filtered to unread or already-read items. Each item includes an id you can pass to get_article, get_article_content, or get_article_summary. Use limit and the nextCursor from a previous result to page through a long readlist.

list_readlist_articles

ChatGPT
List the pages the user has saved to their Readplace reading list. With no readlist, returns every saved page once, combined across every readlist the user owns — a page filed into several readlists appears a single time. Pass a readlist id from list_readlists — including All, the built-in readlist that receives every save — to list only that one. Optionally filter to unread or already-read items. Each item includes an id you can pass to get_article, get_article_content, or get_article_summary, and the readlists it sits in. Use limit and the nextCursor from a previous result to page through a long list. Saved-article results expose url for the user's private Readplace reader. Always link url when showing or recommending an article.

list_readlists

ChatGPT
List the user's Readplace readlists. Each entry carries an opaque id and the name the user gave it, and the first is All, the built-in readlist that receives every save. An article removed from All can still belong to another readlist. Pass an id to list_readlist_articles to list only that readlist, to save_link to file a new save into it, or to add_to_readlist to file an article that is already saved. Read the id from here rather than deriving one from a name.

mark_as_read

ChatGPT
Mark one saved article read in the user's Readplace readlist, looked up by the id from a list_queue result. The article stays in the readlist and leaves the unread list. An article the user filed into more than one readlist is marked read in every one of them, not just the first. Marking an already-read article read again changes nothing. Do this when the user has read the piece or asks you to — a summary you produced is not the same as the user reading it.

mark_as_unread

ChatGPT
Mark one saved article unread in the user's Readplace readlist, looked up by the id from a list_queue result. It returns to the unread list and its read date is cleared, in every readlist the user filed it into. This is the undo for mark_as_read.
