The refern notan generator turns an image you attach into a notan, a value study for artists: the picture reduced to two to five flat values that show its big light and dark shapes. Artists use a notan to check the value design of a painting, drawing, or photo, and to see why a picture reads well or poorly from a distance. Attach an image and ask for a notan or a value study. The generator opens in the chat with your image. You can: - Switch between 2, 3, 4, and 5 values. - Move the split between light and dark, or let the generator place it automatically. - Simplify the shapes, like squinting, so small details merge into large masses. - Compare the notan with the original side by side or with a divider, and flip the image to check the design. - Save the notan as a PNG. You can also choose, drop, or paste another image into the generator at any time. The notan is made on your device. An image you attach is resized in memory on refern's server and is not stored.
