Overview

Tell RepairAble what your appliance is doing in your own words, like "my dryer isn't heating," "dishwasher won't drain," "fridge not cooling but the freezer works," or "my washer shows error code F21." RepairAble then asks a few quick questions, one card at a time, including the model number from the sticker (you can send a photo of it). RepairAble tells you the likely cause, how confident it is, the replacement part and part number, and any safety warnings. If it needs one more detail, it asks a short follow-up question. Ask "what part do I need" to get links to buy the part, or ask for an appliance repair tech near your ZIP code to see a RepairAble technician you can book, or highly rated local repair shops with phone numbers where RepairAble doesn't have a technician yet. You also get a summary link you can give any repair shop so they know what part to bring. It covers refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, ovens, wall ovens, cooktops, microwaves, ice makers, garbage disposals, and trash compactors in the United States. If you smell gas, RepairAble stops and tells you how to stay safe instead of diagnosing.

Tools

answer_followup

ChatGPT
Answer the follow-up question RepairAble asked to narrow down a diagnosis. Use whenever the person replies to that question or adds details about the same appliance, such as the brand, model, age, or what they checked; pass the same diagnosis_ref. Do not start a new diagnose_appliance for the same appliance. Returns the updated diagnosis.

book_repair

ChatGPT
Book a repair appointment with the RepairAble technician that find_repair_pro or the diagnosis found. Use only when that result said booking is available and the person wants to book. Needs the person's name, phone number, the address where the appliance is, and a preferred time window. Nothing is paid now; the technician confirms the time and is paid when the job is done.

continue_repair_intake

ChatGPT
Send the person's answer on RepairAble's intake and get the step that comes next, or, after the last step, the diagnosis. Use whenever the person answers a RepairAble intake card, taps a choice on it, or types the answer the card asks for (an error code, model number, brand name, ZIP code, or a description). Pass the intake_ref from the latest intake card, unchanged, and only the person's answer, in the field the card asks for. Every card of one intake has the same intake_ref and always continues from where the person is now; call it with no answers to show the current step again. Do not add questions of your own.

diagnose_appliance

ChatGPT
Start RepairAble's appliance diagnosis for a broken home appliance. Use when someone says things like 'my dryer isn't heating', 'dishwasher won't drain', 'fridge not cooling but the freezer works', 'oven won't heat up', 'washer won't spin', or asks what part they need or whether to repair or replace. Covers refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, wall ovens, cooktops, microwaves, ice makers, garbage disposals, and trash compactors. This does not diagnose from one message: it returns the first step of RepairAble's intake (the same steps as tryrepairable.com: appliance, problem, a few questions about the appliance, the model number, then brand and ZIP code), skipping anything the person's message already made clear. Pass the person's own words as description, plus the appliance, brand, model number, error code, or ZIP code only if they stated them. Then follow the cards with continue_repair_intake until RepairAble returns the diagnosis; the cards ask every question, so do not add questions of your own. If the person smells gas, RepairAble returns a safety instruction instead. Use this only for a new appliance problem: to continue an intake already started, use continue_repair_intake; for an appliance already diagnosed in this conversation, use answer_followup.

find_repair_pro

ChatGPT
Find an appliance repair technician or repair shop near a ZIP code. Use whenever the person asks for appliance repair near them, a repair tech, a repair shop, or someone to fix a diagnosed appliance, for example 'appliance repair near me', 'find a repair tech near 75230', or 'who can fix this'. Always confirm which ZIP code the appliance is in, since it may not be where the person is right now. Returns either a RepairAble technician who can be booked with the diagnosis already in hand, or nearby highly rated repair shops with phone numbers, plus a summary link to give the shop. Show the shops and the link exactly as returned.

read_model_sticker

ChatGPT
Read the brand and model number from a photo of the appliance's model sticker during RepairAble's intake. Use whenever the person attaches or takes a photo of the model sticker (or label), at any step of the intake; do not read the photo yourself. Pass the intake_ref from the latest intake card and the photo. RepairAble keeps what it read and asks the person to confirm it at the model number step.

record_shop_tap

ChatGPT
Used only by the RepairAble card when the person taps Call on a repair shop, or then confirms they booked with it. Returns the shop's phone number and a call page.
