Overview

Sommelier's Window helps you decide when to open a bottle. Ask about a specific wine and vintage and get its estimated drinking window, peak years, and current status (for example Hold, Approaching Peak, or At Peak), shown on a simple timeline. What you can do - Search the Sommelier's Window database of analyzed wines by name, producer, and vintage. - Get the drinking window for one wine: optimal years, peak years, how many years remain or until the window opens, a short condition and tasting summary, food pairing ideas, and decanting guidance. - See a published critic score when one is available, with its source. - If a wine is not in the database yet, ask for it to be analyzed. The analysis is added as a public page on sommelierswindow.com. New analyses are limited per day. Good to know - Drinking windows are estimates for properly stored bottles. Cellar temperature, humidity, light, closure, and bottle variation all affect how a wine ages, so treat the dates as a guide, not a guarantee. - The status is calculated from the window years and the current year. - The plugin provides educational wine information only, about how wines age and when they show best. It does not sell wine, process payments, give medical advice, or encourage drinking. - No account or sign-in is needed, and the plugin cannot see your cellar or any personal data. The privacy policy explains what is processed, including how the daily limit on new analyses is enforced.

Tools

add_to_cellar

ChatGPT
Add ONE wine to the signed-in user's cellar, identified by the slug of an existing public analysis (from search_wines), with an optional bottle quantity (default 1). If the wine and vintage is already in the cellar, nothing changes. Free plans have a monthly limit on additions; Premium is unlimited. One wine per call; it never removes or edits existing wines. Requires the user to sign in.

analyze_wine

ChatGPT
Creates a NEW public analysis on Sommelier's Window for a wine that is not in the database yet: drinking window, peak, tasting notes, food pairing, and its own public page at sommelierswindow.com. This publishes content and usually takes 10 to 20 seconds (up to a minute). If the wine, or a similar one, already exists, it is returned or listed instead and nothing new is created. Use search_wines or get_drinking_window first; call this only when the wine is not found. A new analysis needs the vintage year, or nonVintage set to true for a genuinely non-vintage wine; ask the user if unsure. Do not pass producer or region on the first call; use them only to disambiguate after a response that listed similar wines. New analyses are limited per day. Returns the same details and timeline widget as get_drinking_window.

get_drinking_window

ChatGPT
Get the drinking window for one wine: optimal window years, peak years, current status (computed from the years and the current year), years until the window opens or left in it, a condition and tasting summary, food pairings, decanting advice, and a critic score only when it has a published source. Identify the wine with either its slug (from search_wines) or its name plus vintage. Shows a timeline widget.

search_wines

ChatGPT
Search the Sommelier's Window database of analyzed wines by wine name, producer, or both, optionally narrowed to one vintage. Returns up to 10 matching wines with name, producer, vintage, region, wine type, current drinking status, and a link to the wine's page. Use get_drinking_window for the full drinking window of a specific wine.
