Overview

The Storyblocks MCP brings our library of 10M+ 100% human-made stock assets into Claude, so you can search and download stock media without leaving your AI workflow. Videos, motion backgrounds, templates, music, sound effects, and images are all in reach, and everything you download is backed by Storyblocks' industry-leading royalty-free license. Describe what you need in plain language and Claude searches the full library for you, narrowing by duration, quality, orientation, BPM, vocals, color, mood, genre, and category. Results appear in an interactive carousel where videos preview on hover and audio plays inline. Once you find the right asset, you can download directly to your computer. With the Storyblocks connector you can: • Search the full Storyblocks library right where you plan, script, and storyboard • See how many results each filter leaves before you commit to one • Find items similar to one you like, or get related search terms when a search comes up short • Look up an item's formats, resolutions, duration, and keywords • Download in the format you choose, covered by your Storyblocks license Every result is real, human-made stock, never a generative guess or a scraped link, so the content you find in your workflow is content you can actually use. The connector is free for all Storyblocks members. Sign in with your Storyblocks account; downloads follow your plan, and Claude confirms each one before it's licensed to your account. Browse accounts can search the library but need a membership to download.

Tools

get_audio_search_stats

ChatGPT
Counts with no results: the number of matches plus a breakdown by field, and no items. The search tools already return the same counts as stats, so reach for this only when the items are not wanted — checking how much exists before committing to a search, or comparing how a filter splits the catalog. Counts a slightly broader population than a search listing does. Takes the same filters as search_audio.

get_download_url

ChatGPT
Get download URLs for a stock item. Every successful call licenses the item and records a download on the user's account, and repeat calls record it again. Call it only for items the user has clearly asked to download — never pre-emptively or speculatively, and not to look up formats (use get_stock_item_details with extended=download_formats for that). A clear request from the user is their confirmation: do not ask them to confirm again. If it is unclear whether they want the item downloaded, ask first. Returned URLs are signed and expire after ~30 minutes: relay them character-for-character — truncating them or adding, removing, or re-encoding any query parameter invalidates the signature.

get_image_search_stats

Takes the same filters as search_images.

get_multiple_stock_item_details

ChatGPT
Get full details for multiple stock items of the same type in one call.

get_similar_audio

ChatGPT
Find Storyblocks stock audio similar to a given track. When linking to an item, use its details_url -- never construct a detail page url.

get_similar_images

ChatGPT
Find Storyblocks stock images similar to a given image. When linking to an item, use its details_url -- never construct a detail page url.

get_similar_videos

ChatGPT
Find Storyblocks stock videos similar to a given video. When linking to an item, use its details_url -- never construct a detail page url.

get_stock_item_details

ChatGPT
Get full details for a single stock item (download formats, categories, keywords, duration, expiration).

get_video_search_stats

Takes the same filters as search_videos.

list_categories

ChatGPT
List every category in a content class. Each entry names the content_type it belongs to, and a name can repeat across content types — videos has "Business" under both templates and motion-backgrounds. The search tools take category names directly, so this is for enumerating what exists or pinning an exact id — not a required step before filtering.

search_audio

ChatGPT
Search Storyblocks stock audio (music and sound effects). Returns trimmed results with preview URLs; use get_stock_item_details for full metadata. When linking to an item, use its details_url -- never construct a detail page url. Results carry stats as well -- the match count and facet breakdowns -- so no separate stats call is needed. Quote stats.total as how much the catalog holds: it is uncapped, where total_results stops at 10,000 and describes only what you can page through.

search_images

ChatGPT
Search Storyblocks stock images (photos, illustrations, vectors). Returns trimmed results with preview URLs; use get_stock_item_details for full metadata. When linking to an item, use its details_url -- never construct a detail page url. Results carry stats as well -- the match count and facet breakdowns -- so no separate stats call is needed. Quote stats.total as how much the catalog holds: it is uncapped, where total_results stops at 10,000 and describes only what you can page through.

search_videos

ChatGPT
Search Storyblocks stock videos (footage, motion backgrounds, templates).
