compare_regions
ClaudeCompare one indicator across regions for the same period, ranked from highest to lowest, with the national value as reference and each region's share of the national total for count indicators. Defaults to all 24 governorates and the most recent period available for all of them. Set level='region' to compare the 7 large regions. Use search_indicators with level='governorate' to find suitable indicators.
describe_dataset
ClaudeShow the dimensions of one INS dataset (e.g. Indicateurs, Sexe, Milieu, Tranche d'âge) and all their elements, plus which element is used by default when a dimension is not filtered. Call this before query_dataset.
get_indicator
ClaudeFull description of one INS indicator: definition, methodology, source, unit, data availability, its parent category and sub-indicators (e.g. breakdowns by sex or age). Use it to navigate the indicator tree or check coverage before fetching data.
get_series
ClaudeFetch the values of one indicator from INS for one region, or up to 6 regions side by side. Returns observations with explicit unit, scale, period covered, gaps (null, never filled), summary figures (latest value, change, year-on-year, min/max, CAGR) and warnings when the data is old, projected or incomplete.
list_datasets
ClaudeList the 78 databases of the INS data portal: the main socio-economic database (C_NSO, use search_indicators/get_series for it) and 77 thematic tables such as the 2014 census (population, households, housing, education, employment by sector), population projections 2014-2044 and national accounts. Query any of them with describe_dataset + query_dataset.
list_regions
ClaudeOfficial administrative divisions as used by INS: the country, 7 regions (Nord Est, ...), the 24 governorates (with ISO 3166-2 codes and Arabic names), 264 delegations and 2,000+ sectors (imadas). Use it to get region keys, or to list the delegations of a governorate. Note: INS keys are not ISO numbers (Sfax is INS 34 / ISO TN-61; INS 61 is Gafsa).
preview_open_data
ClaudeDownload a CSV, XLSX, JSON or GeoJSON file from a data.gov.tn dataset and return its columns and first rows (up to 3 MB read). Pass the dataset id (first previewable file is used) or a specific resource id from search_open_data.
query_dataset
ClaudeFetch data from any INS dataset (census 2014 tables, population projections, national accounts...). Filter each dimension by element names or keys as shown by describe_dataset, e.g. {"Sexe": ["Féminin"], "Milieu": ["Rural", "Communal"]}; use ["*"] for all elements. Unfiltered dimensions default to their top-level element (usually 'Total'). Returns one labelled series per combination.
region_profile
ClaudeKey figures for one governorate in a single call: population, birth/death/fertility rates, unemployment (total and women), employment, doctors, hospital beds, enterprises, bank branches, road accidents, plus per-capita ratios. Each figure has its period, the national value and the governorate's rank among the 24 governorates. Pass 'Tunisie' for the national profile.
search_indicators
ClaudeSearch the ~7,000 indicators of Tunisia's main statistics database (INS socio-economic database). Labels are French; English keywords are translated automatically (unemployment, inflation, births, exports, doctors...). Accents and case are ignored. Each result says whether it has data, its frequency, latest period and at which levels (national/governorate). By default only indicators that actually have data are returned. Use the key with get_series, compare_regions or get_indicator.
search_open_data
ClaudeSearch Tunisia's national open data portal (data.gov.tn, ~2,900 datasets from ministries, municipalities and public bodies): agriculture, municipal budgets, transport, culture, education, weather stations, health facilities, etc. Complements INS statistics with administrative and local data. French or English keywords. Returns dataset ids and their files; use preview_open_data to read a file.
