add-list-item-tool
ChatGPTAdd an entry to one of your lists (requires list_id and entity_id, plus entity_type on a list that holds any type). variant_id pins one cover variant of an issue and must belong to it; omit it for "any cover". An entry already on the list is refused.
add-to-pull-list-tool
ChatGPTAdd a series to your pull list (requires series_id): VerseDB tracks it and notifies you of its new issues. Adding a series already on the list keeps it there.
collection-tool
ChatGPTManage your personal collection. operation=add adds an issue (requires issue_id), operation=update changes an item you own (requires collection_id), operation=remove deletes an item (requires collection_id). Condition, grade, variant, signature, and purchase details apply to add and update. Each add creates another copy, including on retries, with public visibility subject to account privacy settings. Adding may also remove the issue from your wishlist when your automatic-removal preference is enabled.
create-list-tool
ChatGPTCreate a curated list (requires title). New lists are published and public by default; set is_private=true for a private list. A list made here holds any combination of types; add entries with add-list-item-tool.
delete-list-tool
ChatGPTDelete one of your lists and all its entries (requires list_id). Wishlists cannot be deleted.
get-key-issue-reasons-tool
ChatGPTSearch the key issue reasons that mark why an issue is significant (1st appearance, death, origin story, etc.). There are well over 100,000, most naming a character; query matches text in the reason and category narrows by kind.
get-market-prices-tool
ChatGPTGet market price data for a comic issue. Shows fair market values by grade, recent sales, price trends, and cover price.
get-my-collection-tool
ChatGPTGet your personal comic collection. Shows owned issues with condition, grade, and value information, plus a summary of the whole collection. estimated_value is the value the owner recorded for a copy, the same figure the site totals as Market Value; a copy with none has no recorded value. Copies you have sold are excluded unless you ask for them with status.
get-my-lists-tool
ChatGPTGet your curated lists. Lists can contain issues, series, characters, creators, story arcs, or teams.
get-my-profile-tool
ChatGPTGet your VerseDB profile: account details, bio, level and XP progression, contribution stats, follower counts, and activity totals (reviews, issues read, collection, wishlist, lists, pull list, achievements).
get-my-pull-list-tool
ChatGPTGet your pull list — the series you are following for new releases. Shows status, notes, and series info.
get-my-reviews-tool
ChatGPTGet the reviews you have written, with rating, review text, spoiler flag, and what each one covers: an issue, or a whole series for a series rating (stars only). Filter by series_id to see your rating of that series and which of its issues you reviewed, or by issue_id to check a single issue.
get-series-issues-tool
ChatGPTGet all issues in a series, ordered by issue number. Supports pagination.
get-series-progress-tool
ChatGPTGet your reading progress for a series. Shows which issues you have read, completion percentage, and unread issues.
get-tool
ChatGPTGet full details for one VerseDB entity by type and ID. Types: "title" = a franchise; "series" = a specific volume/run (includes publishers, genres, stats, and where to buy/read); "issue" = a single publication (includes creators with roles, characters, key issue reasons, variants, story arcs, and where to buy/read); plus creator, character, publisher, team, story_arc, universe, event, comic_shop, podcast, and "list" (a curated user list with its items). For "comic_shop", operating_hours is keyed Monday-first by lowercase day name; a day absent from that map has unknown hours rather than being closed.
get-trending-tool
ChatGPTGet trending and top-rated comic series from VerseDB based on community reviews and ratings.
get-upcoming-releases-tool
ChatGPTGet upcoming comic releases: issues with a release date or FOC (Final Order Cutoff) date in the next N days, soonest first, a page at a time. pull_list_only narrows it to the series on your active pull list.
list-tool
ChatGPTManage your curated lists. New lists are published and public by default; set is_private=true for a private list. Updating privacy or publication status can expose a list to other users. Operations: create a list; update its title/description/privacy/ranking; delete it (wishlists cannot be deleted); add_item / remove_item to change its contents; merge one of your lists into another; open_to_any_type so a single-type list can hold anything (one-way); stop_rule_updates to drop the rule on a smart list and keep its current items, editable by hand from then on (one-way — a rule is only attached at creation). create requires title and takes no type — every list made here holds any combination of types; add_item requires list_id + entity_id plus entity_type and takes an optional variant_id to pin one cover variant — issues only, must belong to that issue, omit for "any cover"; remove_item requires list_id + item_id (the item_id of an entry on that list); merge requires destination_list_id + source_list_id.
lookup-by-barcode-tool
ChatGPTFind a comic issue by a scanned barcode — a UPC (the printed barcode on most single issues) or an ISBN (common on trade paperbacks and hardcovers). Pass the digits read off the barcode. UPCs are NOT unique in comics: pre-1995 issues and reprints can share one, so a single barcode may resolve to several issues — in that case this returns a list of candidates to disambiguate against the cover. It also takes a distributor order code: a Lunar code (0126IM0451) or a Universal code (DC10251016).
mark-issue-unread-tool
ChatGPTMark an issue as unread (requires issue_id): removes its read status and read date from your reading progress.
merge-lists-tool
ChatGPTMerge one of your lists into another (requires destination_list_id and source_list_id): the source list's entries move to the destination, skipping duplicates. With delete_source=true the source list is deleted afterwards.
open-list-to-any-type-tool
ChatGPTLet one of your single-type lists hold entries of any type (requires list_id). One-way: a list opened to any type cannot go back to a single type.
pull-list-tool
ChatGPTManage your pull list (series you follow for new releases). operation=add starts tracking a series and notifies you of new issues; operation=remove stops tracking it.
rate-series-tool
ChatGPTRate a whole series (requires series_id and rating): stars only, no text, public as community content. One rating per series per user; rating a series you already rated changes that rating. Ratings are 1-5 in half-star increments.
read-status-tool
ChatGPTTrack your reading progress. operation=mark_read marks an issue as read (optionally with the variant you read); operation=mark_unread removes the read status.
remove-from-collection-tool
ChatGPTDelete a copy from your personal collection (requires collection_id, from get-my-collection-tool). The copy and its grade, purchase and sale details are removed. To keep the record of a copy you sold, set its status to sold with update-collection-item-tool instead.
remove-from-pull-list-tool
ChatGPTRemove a series from your pull list (requires series_id): VerseDB stops tracking it and stops notifying you of its new issues.
remove-list-item-tool
ChatGPTRemove an entry from one of your lists (requires list_id and item_id, the item_id of an entry on that list from get-tool type=list).
review-issue-tool
ChatGPTPublish your community review of a released comic issue (requires issue_id and rating; text optional). Reviews are public community content, not private notes. One review per issue per user; edit an existing one with update-review-tool. Ratings are 1-5 in half-star increments.
review-tool
ChatGPTPublish or edit your community review of a comic issue, or rate a whole series. Reviews and ratings contribute to community content and are not private notes. operation=create with issue_id writes a new issue review (rating required, text optional; one per issue per user, and the issue must already be released). operation=create with series_id rates the series: stars only, no text, and rating a series you already rated changes that rating. operation=update edits your existing review (requires review_id). Ratings are 1-5 in half-star increments.
search-tool
ChatGPTSearch VerseDB by entity type. Set "type" to what you are looking for: "title" = a franchise (e.g. Batman); "series" = a specific volume/run (e.g. Batman (2016)); "issue" = a single publication; plus creator, character, publisher, team, story_arc, universe, event (conventions/store events), comic_shop, podcast. Filters only apply to certain types and are ignored otherwise: publisher_id (series, title, character), medium/status/start_year (series), series_id/release_date_from/release_date_to (issue), role_id (creator), event_type/upcoming/country_code (event), country (comic_shop).
stop-list-rule-updates-tool
ChatGPTDrop the rule from one of your smart lists (requires list_id): it keeps its current entries, stops updating on its own, and can be edited by hand from then on. One-way: a rule is only attached when a list is created.
update-collection-item-tool
ChatGPTChange a copy in your personal collection (requires collection_id, from get-my-collection-tool): condition, grade, variant, signature, purchase and sale details, estimated value, and notes. Fields you give replace the stored ones; fields you leave out are kept.
update-list-tool
ChatGPTChange one of your lists (requires list_id): its title, description, ranking, privacy or publication status. Making a list public or published exposes it to other users.
update-review-tool
ChatGPTEdit one of your reviews (requires review_id, from get-my-reviews-tool): its rating, text or spoiler flag. Fields you leave out are kept. A series rating takes a new rating only, no text. Ratings are 1-5 in half-star increments.
