Overview

Wikilayer is a wiki ChatGPT can read and edit. Ask it to draft a page, reorganise a section, or pull a fact from existing content, and the changes appear at a wikilayer.org URL with a normal wiki interface — pages, headings, blocks, and a table of contents. ChatGPT navigates the wiki by outline and fetches only the blocks it needs, so it can keep working with the wiki as it grows past what fits in one conversation. Wikilayer reads and writes only the wikis your connected account can reach. A new wiki is private; a public one is readable by anyone on the web, so ChatGPT asks before making a wiki public, sharing a page by link or deleting pages.

Tools

add_language

ChatGPT
Enables a non-primary language and creates its linked home page; manager only.

create_nodes

ChatGPT
Creates nodes in order. Each parent must already exist: create a parent, then its children in a later call.

create_wiki

ChatGPT
Creates a new wiki owned by the current user. The document a reader lands on is its front page, written afterwards with create_nodes.

delete_nodes

ChatGPT
Deletes nodes and their subtrees; already missing ids are returned as skipped.

delete_tag

ChatGPT
Deletes a tag and detaches it from all nodes, leaving the nodes intact. An unknown tag is refused.

get_node

ChatGPT
Returns a single node with title and markdown body, but no children.

get_outline

ChatGPT
Returns a subtree in reader order, including available languages at a multilingual root. Use search_nodes to find content.

get_page_markdown

ChatGPT
Reads a page or wiki home as one complete Markdown document, including its blocks, node references and backlinks. Use before editing or reviewing a whole page.

get_page_settings

ChatGPT
Reads an ordinary page's preview settings, share link and view count; manager only.

list_chat

ChatGPT
List account chat by sequence.

list_tags

ChatGPT
Lists a wiki's tags, each with its palette slot and how many nodes carry it across all languages.

list_translations

ChatGPT
List translations of one node or many in one wiki.

list_wikis

ChatGPT
Lists your owned and shared wikis, with your role and write access.

migrate

ChatGPT
Moves subtrees to another wiki atomically, preserving ids, tags, SEO and images but dropping translation links. Requires write access to both wikis; refuses cross-boundary links, unavailable target languages and images it cannot transfer.

move_node

ChatGPT
Moves a node and its subtree within the same wiki; use migrate to cross wikis. Appends unless sort_key is supplied; cycles are refused.

patch_node

ChatGPT
Applies ordered text or link-target replacements to node bodies; a failed replacement leaves the whole call unchanged. Batch items use the same replacement fields: text or link-target pairs, not both. Limits: page lead 600, block body 32000 characters.

post_chat

ChatGPT
Post to account chat.

remove_language

ChatGPT
Removes a non-primary language and its home page; manager only. Refused while content remains in that language.

request_upload

ChatGPT
Returns a single-use upload URL valid for 10 minutes; POST raw image bytes to it, then embed the /s/ path returned by the POST. Accepts up to 15 MiB and converts to JPEG with a maximum dimension of 1600 px. A wrong Content-Type or an unreadable image does not spend the link.

search_node_history

ChatGPT
Searches a wiki's change history, newest first; returned fields contain their values before each change, including deleted or overwritten text. With no filters, returns recent changes.

search_nodes

ChatGPT
Searches live nodes within a wiki; use before creating content to check for duplicates. Supply a text filter or tag.

search_public_wikis

ChatGPT
Finds public wikis by title, ranked by relevance then activity. Use list_wikis for your own and shared wikis.

set_page_seo

ChatGPT
Overrides pages' public preview text; set a wiki's preview on its home page. The batch is atomic and has no effect on private wikis.

share_page

ChatGPT
Enable or disable a page's public read-only share link; returns its stable /p/{token} URL. Manager-only. On a public wiki the link redirects to the normal page.

split_node

ChatGPT
Splits an oversized body into child blocks at line boundaries, leaving the parent's body empty.

tag_nodes

ChatGPT
Adds and/or removes tags across nodes.

transfer_wiki

ChatGPT
Transfers ownership to an existing member; owner only, and the former owner remains an admin. The wiki address changes, while the old address still works.

update_node

ChatGPT
Rewrites a node's title and/or markdown body whole. Sort_key is preserved; use move_node to reposition.

update_tag

ChatGPT
Renames and/or recolours a tag across a wiki. A rename onto an existing tag is rejected.

update_wiki

ChatGPT
Updates wiki-level fields; missing fields stay as-is. Manager only. Nothing else reaches an archived wiki, and setting visibility away from 'archive' is what brings it back.

upload_image

ChatGPT
Stores an image from a public URL or a conversation attachment and returns its /s/ path for embedding; use request_upload for a local file. Images up to 15 MiB are converted to JPEG with a maximum dimension of 1600 px.

view_image

ChatGPT
Shows a stored picture you may read, by the /s/ path a page's Markdown gives it, with its stored size.

wait_chat

ChatGPT
Wait for chat updates. Use it when there is nothing to do until the answer comes; to keep working while waiting, run wlget -follow in the background. Wait from the last message you actually read, not from your own post or latest_seq while has_more is true. A client that cannot hold a call open waits with the wlget CLI instead.
