Zovo Baby Names
By Zovo
Overview
Learn about US baby-name popularity using the Social Security Administration's national baby-name records for 1880 to 2025. Ask about one name or compare up to five. For each name you get the 2025 rank and number of babies, the change over the last 10 years, the peak year, the highest rank it ever reached, total babies since 1880, and the girls/boys split. An interactive line chart shows births or rank by year, with hover values and chips to add or remove names. Ask about a specific year, such as Jennifer in 1975, and you get that year's births and rank. Looking for ideas? Find baby names for girls, boys or both by first letter, ending, letters contained, length and approximate syllables. Filter by 2025 popularity (top 100, ranks 101-200, familiar but not common at ranks 201-1,000, uncommon, rare), list the fastest-rising names over any period up to 50 years, find vintage names that were popular in 1910-1930 and are rare now, names popular in a chosen era, or unisex names where girls are 40-60% of recent babies. Each result shows its 2025 rank, births, a trend arrow and a small sparkline; tap one to see its full history. Ranks follow SSA numbering: births in descending order, ties broken alphabetically. Past years are ranked within the top 1,000; 2025 ranks cover the listed names. Limitations: US data only. Spelling variants are separate names (Aiden, Ayden, Aidan). SSA does not list a name in a year when fewer than 5 babies of one sex got it. Yearly detail covers names with 500+ US births since 1880, any 2025 births, or a past top-1,000 rank. No name meanings, origins or pronunciations; syllable counts are approximate.
