How we built #3 Trending Claude Connector

We build MindMap, a tool for turning messy notes into visual mind maps. We watched people creating mind maps inside LLMs, but result was awful. The workflow was clunky. So we built a connector and let Claude call MindMap directly.

Launch week

We shipped it quietly. No press release, no paid placement.

Day 1, the connector published. Day 14, it sat at #3. We didn't game the ranking. We didn't run ads. People tried it, liked it, and told other people.

The number that mattered

Traffic to our site jumped 920% in those two weeks. Most of it came from inside Claude Directory.

That's the part worth noting. The connector didn't cannibalize our site. It fed it.

What actually drove it

Three things, as far as we can tell:

Distribution we didn't have to build. Claude already has the audience. We just needed to show up where they were working.

A genuinely annoying problem solved. Copy-paste between tools is a small tax, but people pay it hundreds of times a week. Removing it made the difference obvious immediately.

Timing. We shipped when curiosity about Claude connectors was high and the trending list still rewarded early, useful entries.

What's next

We're not chasing the ranking. We're watching what people ask MindMap to do through Claude, and building toward that.

If you're sitting on an integration and wondering if it's worth the engineering time: ship it. Watch the data. Adjust from there.
