add_shopping_list_items
ChatGPTAdd items to the user's Bite shopping list for one week, such as "paper towels" or "2 lemons".
add_to_collection
ChatGPTAdd a Bite recipe to one of the user's collections. The user must own the collection or have edit access to it.
check_shopping_list_items
ChatGPTCheck off (or uncheck) items on the user's Bite shopping list for one week, by the item ids on that list.
create_collection
ChatGPTCreate a new private collection in the user's Bite library, optionally adding recipes to it right away. If the user already has a collection with the same name, that one is used instead of making a duplicate.
create_recipe
ChatGPTSave a new recipe to the user's Bite library from structured fields, for when the user wants to keep a recipe from the conversation: one the assistant wrote, one the user pasted, or one read from a photo of a cookbook page. Recipes saved this way are private. Without an approved photo (image_url) the recipe is saved as a draft that the user can finish in the app. Ingredient units must be one of the listed measurements; put any other unit in the item text. Labels must be from the listed label keys; others are ignored.
edit_recipe
ChatGPTChange a recipe the user created in Bite: title, description, ingredients, directions, servings or times. Only the fields passed are changed. ingredients and directions each replace the whole list, so a list must include every line, changed or not; lines sent back unchanged keep their stored ids. Photo, labels and privacy stay as they are. Changes to a public recipe are visible to everyone who can see it.
favorite_recipe
ChatGPTMark a Bite recipe as a favorite (or remove it with favorited=false).
get_collection_recipes
ChatGPTList the recipes in one of the user's Bite collections (owned or shared with them).
get_meal_plan
ChatGPTGet the user's Bite meal plan for one week (Monday to Sunday): breakfast, lunch and dinner for each day, plus up to 5 snack slots that belong to the whole week.
get_recipe
ChatGPTGet one Bite recipe in full: description, ingredients (grouped, with amounts and units), directions, servings, prep and cook time, source, labels, and the user's private note, cooked, saved and favorite status. Use a recipe id from another Bite tool.
get_shopping_list
ChatGPTGets the user's Bite shopping list for one week, the same list they see in the Bite app. It already contains every ingredient from that week's planned recipes: Bite builds it automatically from every recipe in that week's meal plan (merging duplicate ingredients and scaling servings), refreshes it when the plan changes, saves it in the app, and adds items the user put on the list. Includes a plain-text copy for pasting into Instacart or another grocery app.
get_trending_recipes
ChatGPTList public recipes that are trending on Bite right now, for meal ideas beyond the user's own library.
import_recipe_from_url
ChatGPTImport a recipe from a web link into the user's Bite library. Recipe websites are read and saved privately right away. For Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and Reddit links, the post's caption or transcript is returned as untrusted_source_text with status needs_structuring, and nothing is saved yet.
list_collections
ChatGPTList the user's Bite collections, including collections shared with them, with recipe counts and whether they can edit each one.
mark_cooked
ChatGPTRecord that the user cooked a Bite recipe (or undo it with cooked=false). Like in the app, the recipe's author is told that someone cooked their recipe.
plan_meals
ChatGPTPlan meals for the week in the user's Bite meal planner: put recipes into breakfast, lunch or dinner on specific dates, or clear a slot with recipe_id null. Existing recipes in a slot are replaced and returned as previous_recipe. Snacks are weekly: meal "snack" fills the next free of the 5 snack slots in that date's week (Monday to Sunday), or the slot given by snack_number. Up to 21 slots per call; all slots are checked before anything changes.
report_issue
ChatGPTSend a problem report to the Bite team, for example wrong data in a recipe, meal plan or shopping list (like a quantity parsed wrong), a Bite tool that failed or returned something confusing, or a feature the user wishes Bite had. Each report holds a summary, details of what happened and what was expected, and optionally the tool and recipe involved. The Bite team reads every report; Bite doesn't reply through this tool.
save_recipe
ChatGPTSave a Bite recipe to the user's Saved list (or remove it with saved=false), optionally also adding it to one of their collections.
search_bite_recipes
ChatGPTSearch public recipes shared by everyone on Bite by dish name or creator, most popular first. Covers public recipes only, not the user's private recipes.
search_my_recipes
ChatGPTFind recipes in the user's Bite library: recipes they created, saved, favorited or cooked, or the recipes in one of their collections. Matches words in titles, labels, ingredients and descriptions, and can filter by required or excluded ingredients, total time and labels. With have_ingredients, recipes using any of those ingredients come back best match first, each with the ingredients it uses and the ones it is missing. An empty query returns the most recent recipes. Results include each recipe's Bite id.
set_recipe_note
ChatGPTSave the user's private note on a Bite recipe (only they can see it), replacing any existing note. Notes are 1-1000 characters.
