Overview

Common Sense Privacy brings trusted, independent privacy evaluations directly into your Claude conversations. No tab-switching, no searching, no friction. Common Sense Media has reviewed hundreds of apps, platforms, and edtech tools to assess how they handle personal data. Each evaluation examines whether a product sells or shares user information, displays targeted advertising, allows third-party data collection, or builds data profiles for commercial purposes. Products that meet the highest standards earn the Common Sense Privacy Seal, a recognised mark of responsible data practice.

Tools

get_review

Claude
Fetch the Common Sense Privacy review for a product by its exact slug (the URL identifier, e.g. "zoom" or "google-classroom"). Returns the product name and logo URL, privacy score, tier, overview, key rating findings, and a link to the full review. If you only have a product name rather than a slug, call search_reviews first to resolve it — do not guess the slug. Present the returned fields (score, tier, evaluation date, and each rating finding) as-is, but omit any field that is null: a null score means a quick rating with no overall score, and a null logoUrl means the product has no logo. The tier already reflects seal status ("Common Sense Privacy Seal" for seal holders), so do not report a separate seal field. Do not add your own interpretation of what the score or tier "means" — report the findings, not editorial commentary.

search_reviews

Claude
Search Common Sense Privacy reviews by product name or partial name (case-insensitive, e.g. "facebook" or "zoom"). Use this FIRST whenever the user names a product instead of giving a slug. Returns a status of "no_match", "single_match", or "multiple_matches", a list of candidate matches (name, slug, score, tier), and a guidance string. Follow the guidance: on a single match, call get_review with the returned slug; on multiple matches, show the user the options by name and ask which they mean before calling get_review — never guess; on no match, tell the user no review was found.
