Overview

draftmend app in ChatGPT helps users turn document feedback from ChatGPT into proposed edits they can review, modify, and export as DOCX and PDF files. draftmend attempts best-effort formatting preservation from any input into any output.

apply_document_edits

ChatGPT

Use this when the user accepts, rejects, or manually modifies proposed edits and wants them applied to temporary document state.

create_document_from_text

ChatGPT

Use this when the user wants to turn pasted or chat-generated text into a structured editable document.

delete_document

ChatGPT

Use this when the user asks to delete a temporary uploaded or generated document.

export_document

ChatGPT

Use this when the user wants to download the current document as DOCX or PDF. Omit mode to let draftmend select its preservation-first export path.

get_document_review_context

ChatGPT

Use this when a draftmend document has been created or imported and ChatGPT needs parsed text and block IDs to create proposed edits. This is the next step after a completed upload requested for review.

import_document

Use this when the user provides a draftmend-readable DOCX/PDF file payload or extracted text and wants it prepared for editing.

render_document_intake

ChatGPT

Use this when the user still needs to provide a DOCX or PDF for draftmend review because the chat attachment is unavailable, incomplete, or needs format-aware import. Do not use this after upload or import has returned a documentId.

render_editor

Use this when a draftmend document has staged edits ready for review, or when the user asks to reopen its overview, staged changes, editing, or export view. After document intake, render this panel on Overview once edits are staged. Do not reopen document intake.

stage_document_edits

ChatGPT

Use this when ChatGPT has generated structured edit operations and wants draftmend to validate and stage them for user review. After staging edits for an uploaded document, call render_editor with initialView "overview" so the user receives the review panel. Do not reopen document intake.
