About to attach a contract to a ticket, send an export to a contractor, or forward a medical report? Find out what personal information is in it, and mask it. MATCHED EXACTLY, AND MASKED Email addresses, phone numbers, payment cards (Luhn checked), US Social Security numbers, Indian PANs and Aadhaar numbers, and IBANs (checksum verified). MASKED WHEN A LABEL SAYS WHAT THEY ARE Bank accounts ("A/C No:"), IDs ("Patient ID:", "MRN:", "UHID:", "Report ID:", "Policy No:", "Claim No:", "Employee ID:"), names ("Name:"), ages ("Age:") and dates of birth ("DOB:"). In spreadsheets the column header counts as the label. Invoice, order and PO numbers are left alone. FOUND THROUGH STRUCTURE, NOT MASKED A table column headed Name, a signature block, a postcode, a labelled address, and email addresses that embed a name. WHAT IT DOES NOT DETECT A name in an ordinary sentence, such as "I spoke to David about the renewal", is not found or masked by the tools. MASKING A FILE For pasted text, redact returns the text already masked. For a file, it returns where each identifier sits, so the file is masked in place with its formatting intact. The Forge PII Scan plugin does this for Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF files, and lets Claude mask other names and addresses you approve. WHAT HAPPENS TO WHAT YOU SEND Nothing is stored or logged, and no part of a document appears in an error message. No result ever contains the values found.
