Overview

GSA per diem rates and travel per diem totals from the official tables, inside ChatGPT. Ask "what's the GSA per diem for San Diego" or "per diem rate for Denver in November" and get the maximum lodging rate for that month (seasonal rates differ), the M&IE rate, the 75% first and last day amount and the breakfast, lunch, dinner and incidentals breakdown. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam and other US territories use the DoD non-foreign OCONUS rates; foreign cities use the State Department's monthly OCONUS rates. Then total a whole trip: one destination or several legs, each night at its own month's and fiscal year's rate (trips across 1 October are handled), nights = days minus one, M&IE at 75% on the first and last day (the FTR rule the JTR also uses), meals provided at a conference deducted at the official amounts, and your actual room rate capped at the limit. You get a day-by-day table and a CSV for an expense report, voucher or grant budget. Rates come live from the GSA Per Diem API, the DoD bulletins in the Federal Register and the State Department, and follow the Federal Travel Regulation (41 CFR 301-11). Your trip details are not stored. Not affiliated with GSA or DoD; your travel office decides what is reimbursed.

Tools

calculate_trip_per_diem

ChatGPT
Use this when the user wants a per diem total or a day-by-day table for travel dates: "GSA per diem total for Denver Nov 10-13, lunch provided on the 11th", "per diem for Huntsville AL then Atlanta, 3 nights each, first and last day are travel days", "per diem calculator", "voucher day-by-day table", a TDY or business trip budget, an expense report or a grant budget, with one destination or several legs (US CONUS, Alaska, Hawaii and US territories, or foreign/OCONUS cities). Applies the Federal Travel Regulation (the JTR uses the same 75% travel-day rule) to the official rates for each night: lodging capped at that night's rate by month and fiscal year (seasonal and 1 October FY2027 changes handled), nights = days - 1 (no lodging on the return day), M&IE at 75% on the first and last day and 100% on full days, M&IE by where the traveler sleeps, provided meals (government or conference registration, e.g. "lunch provided") deducted at the official breakfast/lunch/dinner amounts, and actual room costs capped at the rate. Returns a dated row per day (location, lodging, M&IE %, deductions, day total), the trip total and a CSV for the voucher. If one leg cannot be priced, the other legs are still totalled and that leg is flagged with what is missing. Pass ZIP or city + state for US places, country + city abroad (country optional for well-known cities). Do not use for a single rate question (use lookup_per_diem_rate), mileage or airfare, how to file a voucher in Concur or DTS, or to decide what an employer will actually reimburse. Not affiliated with GSA.

lookup_per_diem_rate

ChatGPT
Use this when the user asks for the per diem rate of one place or month: "per diem rate san diego", "M&IE rate for Chicago in October 2026", "GSA per diem Denver FY2027", "lodging rate for Honolulu in March", the 75% first and last day amount, or an OCONUS, foreign or JTR per diem rate. Reads the official tables for that exact month and federal fiscal year (GSA CONUS rates FY2025 to FY2027 for any US city, county or ZIP; DoD non-foreign OCONUS rates for Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam and other territories; State Department monthly rates for foreign cities, where the country can be left out for well-known cities such as Frankfurt or London). Returns the published maximum rates for that date: maximum lodging (seasonal), M&IE, the 75% first/last-day amount, the breakfast/lunch/dinner/incidentals breakdown used for meal deductions, which county or key city the place falls under, and the source link. Do not use it to total a trip or a date range (use calculate_trip_per_diem), nor for mileage rates, airfare, IRS high-low rates or company-specific allowances. Not affiliated with GSA.
