The Pantry Butler

by My Media Matters LLC

Overview

The Pantry Butler keeps two things together that every other recipe tool separates: the food in your kitchen, and the person whose recipe it is. Ask what to cook tonight and the answer is built from the recipes you saved and what is actually in your pantry, fridge and freezer — not from general knowledge, and not from a search engine. Recipes ranked by how much of each you already have, with the missing items named. Every recipe carries its creator. The cook who filmed it is named and linked on the card, saving a recipe through an assistant preserves that credit exactly as saving it in the app does, and creators in the founding programme are paid a share for the life of every subscription they bring. Recipes come from somewhere. This is the only kitchen connector that says where. Six tools. Four read: what to cook tonight, what is in the kitchen, what you have saved, and which account is connected. Two write, and only if you grant the write scope: add items to the kitchen, and save a recipe from a link. Connecting takes one screen. The assistant registers itself, you see exactly what it is asking for, and nothing is granted until you press Allow. There is no token to paste. Read-only is the default, so an assistant that only answers "what's for dinner" never gets permission to change anything, and any connection can be cut from the connect page with immediate effect.

Tools

add_pantry_items

Claude
Add items to the kitchen. Accepts plain language exactly as a person would say it — "2 lemons", "half a bag of spinach", "chicken thighs". Use this when they mention shopping, unpacking groceries, or having bought something.

cook_tonight

Claude
Recipes this person can cook right now with what is already in their kitchen. Use this whenever they ask what to cook, what's for dinner, what they can make without going to the shop, or what to do with what they have. Returns their own saved recipes ranked by how much of each they already own, with the missing ingredients named. can_make: true means nothing is missing.

list_pantry

Claude
Everything in this person's kitchen — pantry, fridge and freezer — with expiry dates where known. Use this when they ask what they have, what is in the fridge, or what is about to go off.

list_recipes

Claude
The recipes this person has saved, newest first, with the creator each came from. Use this when they ask what they have saved or want to find a recipe by name.

save_recipe

Claude
Save a recipe from a link — an Instagram or TikTok post, or a food blog. Returns the capture endpoint to follow; importing runs an AI extraction and is a separate, slower call.

whoami

Claude
Which account this connection acts for, their plan, and how many recipes they have saved. Never returns an email address.
