Overview

HeatPump AI gives Claude reliable, manual-grounded answers about heat pumps: air-to-air and exhaust-air units from 12 brands (32 model families), including Panasonic, Mitsubishi Electric, NIBE, Daikin, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Bosch and ComfortZone. What you can ask - "My Panasonic HZ shows F 11. What does it mean?" - "The outdoor unit is blinking twice. Which fault is that?" - "How often should I clean the filter?" Tools (all read-only, no account needed) - list_families: the brands and model families covered. Claude calls it first. - lookup_error_code: an exact lookup of a fault code in the family's parsed error-code table. It also handles named alarms printed in the manual's own language, such as ComfortZone's Swedish alarm names. There is no fuzzy matching: an unknown code is reported as unknown, never replaced with a similar-looking one. - list_error_codes: every fault identifier the manual documents, so Claude can match what the user describes to the right one. - list_blink_codes: LED and lamp blink patterns, separating patterns that identify a single fault from shared ones. - search_manual and read_manual_section: keyword search over owner-manual sections, and each section's summary and key facts. Search works in English, Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish. Safety first When a fault needs a certified technician (refrigerant, electrical or other regulated work), the tools say so explicitly and give no repair steps. That follows the EU F-gas rules, so Claude routes the user to a professional instead of improvising. Grounded, not generated Answers come from structured data extracted from official manufacturer manuals, written in our own words, with a link to the manufacturer's own PDF where one exists. Lookups are deterministic: the same code always gives the same answer. For photo diagnosis and help finding a technician, the HeatPump AI iOS app is available on the App Store.

Tools

find_error_code

Claude
Cross-brand search: which heat pump families HeatPump AI covers print this error code, as brand, family and the code's title only. Use it when the user reports a code but not their brand or model. It identifies candidates and does NOT diagnose — no meanings, owner actions or technician routing. Confirm the unit with the user, then call lookup_error_code with that brandSlug/familySlug for the fault and what to do. Matching is exact after normalisation (case, spaces, hyphens, dots folded). At most 20 families are returned.

list_error_codes

Claude
Every fault identifier this family's manual documents, as code + title only. USE IT INSTEAD OF GUESSING AT A WORDING: when the user reports a NAMED alarm rather than a short alphanumeric, or when a lookup_error_code call came back found:false, list the identifiers and pick the one matching what they described — the manual's wording may differ from theirs, and may be in a different language. Returns no meanings, no owner actions and no technician routing: it narrows, it does not diagnose. Whatever you pick, call lookup_error_code with that identifier exactly as listed.

list_families

Claude
Brands and model families HeatPump AI has manual-derived data for. Call first to get brandSlug/familySlug.

lookup_error_code

Claude
Deterministic lookup of a fault identifier in this family's parsed error-code table. An identifier is NOT always a short alphanumeric like "H11" or "F 90": many manufacturers instead print a NAMED alarm in the manual's own language — e.g. ComfortZone's Swedish "Kondensortemperatur larm" or "Givarefel TE0-TE24" — and those are looked up here exactly like a code is. Call list_error_codes first if you do not know which shape this family uses. Matching is exact after normalisation (case, spaces, hyphens, dots and the Nordic letters å/ä/ö/æ/ø are folded for you); there is no fuzzy matching and no near misses. Returns found:false when the identifier is not in this family's table — that answer is correct and must be reported as-is, never replaced with a similar-looking code. Says when a fault needs a certified technician; never gives repair steps for those.

read_manual_section

Claude
The section's summary and fact list in our own words (no manual text).

search_manual

Claude
Find owner-manual sections by keyword. Returns section ids for read_manual_section. Own-words summaries only.
